Why no Hail Mary?

I not get it either. At least we've actually connected on a Hail Mary, as opposed to not hitting a clutch 50+ since... it's been a long time.

FIFTY EIGHT YARDS.

Probably would have resulted in Jennings getting hurt and it would have made things worse(I know it's hard to imagine, but it's possible to make things worse than this).

That's just a silly post. He's a good kicker, but he's not an NFL distance kicker. Why no pass, hope for interference if no catch?
Yep, this was much bigger odds than a fg out of out kickers range. Botch's thinking-we've never done it before.

Truth be told I was hoping someone would hear that question answered in the press conference. I'm just wondering, when we're away, why you don't go for the win? You know our kicker can't hit that.

Nuh uh, Butchy said Medley was hitting them from that distance and they talked about it at half and he was comfortable at that range.

See this is where I think Butch shows us his pure coaching style. He's not quite the cut throat he needs to be sometimes. We're injured, yep. We're dealing wth a qb who is an incredible runner, but just can't set and throw, yep. But we were in a position to win, on the road, at a night game where the fan base was lit, you don't go for the tie anyway!

I'm still behind this team, and the coaches, but please, learn from this that the only way to win in the SEC is taking risks, having some swagger, and being aggressive.

Medley is 6/20 beyond 39 yards, with a career long of 47. He was 0-3 beyond 50 before this kick.

Maybe Butch saw him kicking from the 38 and thought it was the 48.

He said he went with percentages. Medley hitting a 58 yarder had to be pretty close to 0%. A Hail Mary may at least draw a penalty to move us 15 yards closer, or perhaps even work to win the game. But Medley had to be the absolute last decision to make.
