Why Lincoln Riley Bolted

Why? Crime? Higher Taxes? Politics that turned a great state into a disaster? Do tell, I’m intrigued
This is such a narrow-minded perspective. Did you really just ask, why someone who is wealthy, would rather live in southern California than Oklahoma? Mercy.

There is nothing disastrous about Laguna Beach.

He's doing the same thing that big city people do when they see a picture of a dilapidated trailer park and say "The whole South is like that - why do people live there?"

I mean yeah, Skid Row is a hellhole. That isn't the whole city. There are places in my city I wouldn't want to live or even go to either.

People keep bringing that up, but I doubt he considered much of anything else once they offered $110 million plus + a home + use of a private jet + bought his homes in Norman.
Good deal as long as they pay his fire hazard insurance

Well that's one side of it. The other is that OK and TX can now keep more top tier recruits that bolt for other schools because they are SEC.

Don't expect either of them to routinely win 10 regular season games but don't expect them to be 5-7 much either.

With that said, they won't as fortunate as Mizzou was at transitioning to SEC.

I'm sure that Lebron James would rather play for the Thunder, and live the dream in Oklahoma... but we can't all get what we want in life. So he's having to make the most of things in the 3rd world disaster known as Beverly Hills.

Poor guy. How does he handle living in such crime-ridden squalor?

And there's a couple more "he's scared" takes. Nevermind that every one of us would likely quit our job and move for $110 million lol.

Nope.

It was 100000 percent due to the lack of vaginal fortitude from Riley and the fear of facing Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M in a pod yearly.

Idk Lincoln Riley but I do know if you offered me an easier job with more pay and better living conditions, I’m all over it.

Idk if the guy was scared or not as some speculate. I doubt there was any fear associated with the decision. Simply a matter of one job checking more boxes than the other could. And as much as I make fun of Norman, OU is an awesome program. I doubt they have an issue hiring a football coach going forward.

I don’t think he bolted because of the SEC , he is still going to get paid no matter what. That’s nonsense considering Saban has beat the tar out of everybody for over ten years, SEC included

multiple sources have said he was fighting oklahoma coming to the sec. He hated it. When they ignored him and did what they wanted, he took the next best offer that came his way. He actually, really, did not want to be in the SEC.

According to OU's prez, they had been trying to talk with him and his people for weeks about a huge contract extension to stay there. I don't think he was the least bit interested in even hearing their offer.

OU reportedly finished 3rd among offers. Multiple reports have come out saying OU couldn't even match LSU's offer, much less USC.

Yeah why would Riley come to the SEC with a top ten program of all time in Oklahoma especially when Saban is retiring in another year or so. Has beat Saban and went toe to toe with Ga in the playoffs . Yeah I’m sure he was scared of the SEC

He is scared of the SEC. Plain and simple. OU could have easily matched whatever USC offered.
Money would be the same wherever he went. Living in So. Cal in great weather next to the ocean with his family is as good as it gets. Plus, USC has a good base of 4 star players and a 5 star QB Malachi Nelson just decommitted from Ok and committed to USC. Also, 5 star running back Raleek Brown from Mater Dei just committed. Coach Riley will have them challenging for a conference title in year one probably, but definitely by year 2. Much better than life in Norman, OK and fighting Alabama and friends for years to get a title.
