I dunno... maybe we've got some developing talent that's under the radar right now, but...
EDGE is the most productive position from which to disrupt or determine pass blocking schemes and force offenses to keep a RB or TE inside rather than running loose in the secondary. But he's gotta have speed, strength, flexibility, and hand skills to be that disruptive element.
In every scheme I'm aware of, if the offense can negate the EDGE rusher* without double-teaming, that offense can then dictate.
*the exceptions would be if you have a once-in-20-years AA unicorn at defensive tackle, or you're constantly blitzing like we had to Heupel's first season here.
