Why is...

Cheap property and you don't have to clean up when you leave.

And because there is literally nothing else in Alabama. Don't get me wrong if you're an outdoor enthusiast and a chronic beach goer you'll probably love it there. But in terms of city growth and gentrification you're on the lower end of the spectrum imo.

Why is everything in Alabama?!

The media day is there

Senior Bowl

SEC headquarters

Makes me sick!!!

I would think they would rotate where media day is, but if only have one location I would think bigger city like Atlanta, why in Birmingham?

Also would think senior bowl location would rotate.
Nashville...
Sort of a neutral site (sorry Vandy).

Senior Bowl has been in Mobile in like forever. I remember seeing Namath playing in Senior Bowl in Mobile.

Pretty sure it's independently operated down there. Seems like I saw Namath's pic on the wall in a downtown restaraunt/bar where they had a ton of Senior Bowl memorabilia. It's a pretty big deal in Mobile, right along with the REAL MardiGras and Moon Pies (which they think originated there instead of in Chattanooga). I have to corect the locals regularly on that last one. :)

I think they considered it, but when they realized how much it would PO Vols fans, they said the Hell with it.

I would think some higher up in the SEC at the time had a mistress in Birmingham, and locating it there is something he lobbied for.

My thought is because they win a natty every other year.
They get the number 1 recruiting class in the nation every single year.
They have the greatest coach to ever coach the game...

just my thoughts

Bear and The General may have a little disagreement with you on this one! :lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

You are high

Saban took over a national powerhouse that was down and brought it back, Bear Bryant did the dirty work at bama just like Neyland did the dirty work at UT.

Look back at the programs and to see who put them on the map in the first place and then see who extended the run or brought them back to prominence.

Most current example would be Spurier, Florida was nothing before him as a player or as a coach. He put Florida on the map, that's the dirty work. He tried to do the same for SC but even he couldn't change the fact that they are SC.

Well I don't know about Birmingham other than seeing it on every episode on "48 Hours" but a fire in Montgomery today burned down the Governor's Mansion. Fire department said the Triple-wide trailer was a total loss! Condolences!

Considering that the Senior bowl is put on and has always been put on by the city of Mobile, it's not moving. They wouldn't choose to put it on in another city.
