It is a rivalry .... it just isn't balanced. However, making it a home team dominated series would be a good step in the right direction. It's not a rivalry and that is the point. They have owned UT since Saban got there. There was short term success when Shula was coaching there but for the most part in my life they have beaten us pretty often.
I can't stand people like youThey get NATIONAL TITLES... we don't. We had a single 1 with Fulmer (which took a lucky fumble by Arkansas to get), they got 5 with Saban, 1 with Stallings, and 5 or 6 with Bryant before that. We are NOT on the same level.
They dominate us in ever College Football Metric ever. They should redo Third Saturday Rivalry and have it Alabama vs. LSU or Alabama vs. Georgia. Pick a program that is better than Tennessee.
When is the last time Nebraska went to the playoffs? JesusWell Alabama fans are not very smart. Tennessee is a lot like Nebraska. Our glory days are gone and may never return. Heck, our true Glory Days were Neyland which was 1920s - 1950s (before television). We had a kind of good run with Fulmer (only got 2 SEC titles and the National). Heupel has had some decent seasons but for most part we are a pretty mediocre program overall. No where near Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, LSU, etc. who all compete and win titles.
Tennessee doesn't have the in-state football talent or resources to compete anymore.
Do you follow recruiting? It doesn't look like it. Tennessee does have the resources to compete and for the most part they are. Recruiting is going pretty well. Can't wait to see Tristen Keys in orange.Well Alabama fans are not very smart. Tennessee is a lot like Nebraska. Our glory days are gone and may never return. Leave this message board and never come back. Please and thank you.Alabama has 6 National Titles and 9 SEC Titles since 2000 and has gone 18-7 against Tennessee in that span.
This isn't a "rivalry" because Tennessee is a dog crap program that doesn't even deserve to hold a program like Alabama's jock strap. We are more on par with Arkansas, Miss State, South Carolina, etc. Programs that can't win the SEC or National Titles.
We can have an 11-2 season here and there but we never are the team anymore and probably never will be.

First Tennessee has won either 2 or 6 college national championships depending upon what poll was used. Most lists have us winning only 2, but in some of the early years you will see other schools lay claim for various reasons. There wasn't really a 'championship game' in the early days. The University claims 6.
Second, some of the schools you listed above, Clemson and Georgia only have 3 National Championships, as does Florida. LSU has 5. Texas has 4. I believe the total number of schools that have won in the 156 years of football is circa 40. The school with the most is Yale who has 18. Bama has 16 (many of those pre BCS in the Bear Bryant years).
14 different schools have won the championship since the BCS was introduced. Bama has won 6. LSU and OSU have won 3. Clemson, FSU, Georgia, and Florida have won 2. The other 7 (Tennessee, Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan, Auburn, Texas and USC) have won 1. And I believe Saban has 7 of those, 6 with Bama and 1 with LSU. Saban is why Bama has those championships.
Tennessee was consistently ranked in the top ten of the polls during the 1990's and continued to be ranked in the top 25 every year through 2007. The glory days did not end with Neyland. You are discrediting some incredible teams with that thought, including the ones on which Peyton Manning played.
Bama has had two elite coaches in 70 years, let's not act like they just fall up into great HCs.That is part of my point though. Alabama can get coaches like Saban while Tennessee's coach hires were mostly disasters because no one wanted to come here. We are lucky to have Heupel but you can see that he tends to get puked in 2 or 3 games each year.

Lots of obviously pissed off people today including myself! But let’s ask ourselves why are we where we’re at? Everyone’s looking for a scapegoat right now so watch out you may get blamed yourself! I will be frank people that Fromm the beginning I have never liked this NIL crap! Gone are the days when young men played for honor and pride and school spirit! Now it’s who gets the most $$$! Before you you say I’m crazy and old school let me give you an analogy! I am A former USAF officer and just like colleges we have b our rivalries! We have the Thunderbirds and the navy has the blue angels each thinks they are the best pilots in the world! Now imagine if the Navy paid there pilots twice what the AF did! Now it’s no longer about honor and esprit de corps now it’s just about $$$! That is where college football is now because of greed! And greed invokes more greed! Thankfully our military hasn’t gone there yet!!!They get NATIONAL TITLES... we don't. I'd say Tennessee is on a par with LSU and Auburn, maybe even Penn St...always dangerous, but never quite able to get over the hump against the truly great teams. I think Alabama sees us as their rival because...well...who else? Plus tradition. Alabama will continue to dominate Tennessee, but they'll do that to everyone else, too. An Alabama loss, to anyone, is always seen as some unexpected anomaly. A Tennessee loss is rarely seen as surprising. My great wonder is why our recruiting classes are rarely in the top-5. Why don't high school football studs want to come to UT. Is Knoxville not as interesting as Athens, or Tuscaloosa, or Columbus? Is the campus not as interesting?
They had Gene Stallings who was about on par with Fulmer ans DeBoer looks pretty good right now.
Even during their crappy period, they still got an SEC title (1999) and beat Tennessee here and there. During our crappy run, we didn't beat them once and it is going on 3 decades of no Championships.
EDIT: Even at its worse, Alabama looks better than Tennessee in many decades.

Yeah, but we sure do get to face the one's who are elite on a yearly ****en basis...Bama has been fortunate to have been able to have two very elite coaches (Bryant and Saban). Tennessee has had only one, Neyland, with other coaches that were good, just not elite.
To be fair, there has not really been that many truly elite coaches in the history of college football.
