He seems to be worried about Philip Fulmer, but why? They are on the west coast. :thud::lolabove:lol:
Az State in the 90s- 62-51
Tenn in the 90s- 98-22-3
Throw in a national title and 6 top 10 finishes for the Vols.
Our 1990s were a fair bit better than their 1990s.
He won't have Hurley to help after this year. He's gone to Louisville for a fat raise or somewhere else that isn't a basketball graveyard. If you think football is joke at Arizona St. check out their basketball program. Zero PAC championships in 40 years and no valid* Sweet Sixteens in almost 50 years.No. He's raised a ton of $ and hired Bobby Hurley. One bad football hire isn't a death sentence at most schools.

To tell the truth, I'm a bit concerned about the level of Phil's involvement too. It's as though his unprecedented involvement is looking over Pruitt's shoulder. Dictating what the coach can and can't do regarding recruiting and later even coaching the team. I think having selected his coach, Phil should back off while also making sure NCAA rules are followed and student-athletes are treated fairly, that sort of stuff. But taking on duties traditionally those of a coach seems a bit much. I hope he isn't taking on a Vlad the Impaler and Mao Zedong role. I see lot of pitfalls in being such a non-traditional AD. On the other hand, he might crazy like a fox.
I know this will be unpopular, but our entire administration is a cluster. If other ADs believe the story that Fulmer did a power play and ousted Currie (given Phil's history, you have to give credence to the story) then other ADs are likely to be less than enthusiastic towards him.
All that said, if Pruitt wins, Fulmer will be fine. If Pruitt doesn't, the cluster continues.
Of course other ADs believe it. Our idiot former AD spread it around to try and save face and take the focus away from his complete incompetence. It was reported yesterday in a story that 12 different sources told him there was NO power play by Fulmer and he was asked/begged to take the spot by a few Anderson and Thornton to keep Haslam's secondary pet from getting the job.
I saw that story, but frankly, don't believe it. It read like pure athletic dept propaganda. Fulmer campaigned heavily for the AD job earlier this year and I don't believe for a second he didn't care to get it when this crap show unfolded.

This is what I was thinking, he is worried that and ex coach might remind people that you do not need a hired gun MBA to run an athletic department.
Not only that but made him keep the entire coaching staff of the previous coach? Who the hell does that?
And the OC is reportedly leaving and the DC is already gone just 2 weeks ahead of their bowl game.

It has to be personal, such as a friendship with Currie. It does not serve ASU's interests for him to make these comments. It does nothing but potentially injure ASU's reputation. These ADs know better than doing something like this, so something that is emotion based like this means he's definitely buds with Currie.
Sounds like the Academics had intended on the overall takeover of Football to lessen its importance. Making most teams sub par reigns in apathy thus causing less care from a fan base. There is a difference from being a sports fan and a fan of a team in the power 5. One is a b!tch and the other is someone who mike throw a blow if you talk to much trash.
