It looked like he caught some tough breaks and got bum-rushed for three early sacks that had to factor into later snaps. By the time he seemed to settle down and get something going, it was already an overwhelming deficit.
I don't think anyone gets to the level of performance he has already proven himself to be for us so many times without him being his own worst critic. Naturally, the whole team was disappointed in the combined team effort overall.
I'd love to find out during the bye week, there will be some productive film review by players and staff to identify exactly how to correct mistakes made and taking into consideration the injuries or any other adversities, identify the problems and then make the necessary adjustments to adapt for tangible improvements for the rest of the schedule.
I like what Derek Barnett said about part 1 of the season is over and now it's season 2, like a new season from this point forward and I like what Todd Kelly, Jr. said about only focusing on the very next game. I can't remember which of the two said it, but how they won't let one football game define the entire season for them with football left to play.
I do admit I believe it would be immensely satisfying to see everyone heal up, get that much-needed rest and then regroup for an incredible opportunity to avenge our two losses by winning the rest of our games, win the East and then beat whoever we could face in the West to win a conference championship.
That's a tall, tall mountain but this team didn't get to where they are now without facing challenges and overcoming some probabilities along the way.
My desire for the staff, the players and all of Vol Nation is to see the team have the opportunity to execute an entire game winning all four quarters without surrendering a lead because I believe the coaches and players deserve to actualize on the football field in reality what they already know inside is true about what they're capable of achieving.
I was very, very pleased at the improvement in ball security.
Dobbs has the character of a champion. I'd love to see him and the team win a championship because of the way they've fought their hearts out in less than ideal situations so far this year.
I think we can trust the paid coaches and the players to identify and correct the issues needed to finish this season strong and that they probably all feel brow-beaten enough about Saturday afternoon. Right now, they need to know we still love and support them. I believe every true fan does. I know I do. Keep your head up Josh Dobbs, Coaches and team, there's still plenty of football left to play this season and a championship that has yet to be decided officially until the end of the year -- and not just one or two losses.
