Why is Fulmer such a successful recruiter?

Just curious what everyone's opinion as to why he's been so successful over the years?

Is the facilities, the area, his selling it that brings recruits to UT?

There also some traffic on some other boards that Fulmer is a dirty recruiter. Has contacts in the NCAA, etc that have prevented UT from being investigated for violations in the past.

The other concern is, if UT replaces Fulmer how difficult is it for another coach to bring in top players?

Any thoughts?

Because he has 100,000 fans every Saturday (Neyland Stadium), top tier facilities, and (at one time) could promise to have a good number of his games televised on national TV.

2 people, trooper taylor and cutcliffe

Trooper has only been here for 2-3 recruiting cycles and Cutcliffe was gone for about 8 seasons.

The stadium, the exposure and the facilities are the main reasons. Any coach that steps in to replace Fulmer will have the same things to work with and recruit just as decently as Fulmer.

I agree with Rasputin. Our area is beautiful, not too big, not too small. The best football facilities, a cool university, Neyland and that whole experience, other good sports programs. Our track record of sending players to the NFL, the amount of games that are televised and last but not least....all the hotties on campus!

UT really is the total package.

He should be a heck of a lot better with the facilities and booster money flowing in. To be honest I just think he has been average the last couple of years.

I have often wondered this, as he seems so uncomfortable and whatever the opposite of charming is. What do you think of this compared to the previous discussion about how UT isn't one of the top-10 head coaching opportunities.

Add to that the number of former Vols now playing on Sunday

I love how people are trying to discredit his recruiting now also. hahaha It's Trooper and Cutcliffe, it's this or that, blah blah blah....

It's obviously a number of things all combined into one, but he's the go to guy. He's the top dog, and if he gets blamed for the losses, then he gets credit for the recruiting. End of story.

Even players who don't choose to come to UT still praise Fulmer and how he's such a great, honest, family type guy.

Now if all that would get him back to being a top-notch coach.
