Why Is Florida A Must Win For Butch?

Have you honestly looked at our linemen?

We aren't that great. Injuries have hurt lines that weren't top 5 in the conference to start with.

You guys just can't wait to talk about how bad or young we are..

How about expect to freaking win for a change?

I agree that losing Maggitt is a big loss for our DL, so please don't misunderstand. But I disagree about the second half of OU game illustrating it.

Maggitt left the game in the second quarter at about the 9 minute mark of the second quarter. The next 6 OU drives which included a couple in the second quarter, resulted in 27 plays for 86 yards and only 3 points. That's 3.2 yards per play.....compared to the 6 defensive drives that he did play which saw OU total 57 yds, or 2.2 yards per play, really no difference.

The difference, IMHO, was when the defense finally wore down the last two OU drives after so much time on the field. Missing Maggitt going forward does hurt, a lot, the defense and team overall. But the second half and even the second half of the second quarter, didn't really prove it.

So you think Vereen is as fast as Maggitt?

All those missed tackles by our DL giving chase on Mayfield and you think Maggitt wasn't missed?

That is essentially what you're saying.

Maggitt is much better than the guys that backed him up after he left the game. He could have impacted the outcome of the game. No question in my mind.

The attrition is his, the attrition from 5 years ago IS irrelevant to this team and definitely next year. We'll have 9 less JR's next year and 8 less SR's (experience and depth) because recruits from his classes bailed on his watch. DeAnthony Arnett, for example, eaving in 2011 doesn't affect team 119 in 2015.

Neither does Wharton in Cali or Hendrix at Pitt. They're not part of the team and don't matter.

Its a MUST WIN. After the way we blew the game last year, and blew the OU game this year, if Butch doesnt win this game fans are gonna start turning on him and ticket sales will drop.

You guys can't wait to start the next coaching search.

How about we give the guys a chance to fix what's broken?

The head coach on Gameday seems to be the biggest thing broken.

Hopefully he repairs that Saturday.

first with you the man Fingers!

Starts @ 4:20, should end around 6:20 with interviews afterward.

I got called in to work late so I won't be around right after practice. If carlos (who did great last week) or someone else wants to pick up the slack, I'll try to fill in the blanks when I get home.

This exemplifies our Next Man Up philosophy. Fingers is talented. But this represents a tremendous opportunity for some of our younger posters to step into the role. The posters are getting better and more confident. There's more experience with what's expected. After this week, we will snap and clear and be ready for the next opportunity.

We talk about consistency and where we are as a website. We have 1300 users who have never been to a practice, 26% of us have never been to a game. Its a great opportunity for our young people.

Because it's put up or shut up time. C J and his coach speak is getting on people's nerves. Plus people aren't sure if he's going win.

What do people want? Do they want him to be more like Beilema or whatever his name is. just relax. Sure florida is a big game it always is. We need to play well, and if we have a chance to win we'd better finish the job. We didn't do that against Oklahoma, but it surely isn't a win or die game.

The fanbase will snap and clear from Butch Jones if he's talking about snapping and clearing Saturday night.

Bottom line is regardless of talent level right now between the teams we should have won last year and we are better/deeper than last year and they are worse than last year. And it was a one point loss.

Literally the only way to show improvement from last years game is to win. Anything else shows digression.

Combine that with the WAY we lost (not the loss itself) in the OU game and this game is critical to showing long term success and stability, something this program desperately needs and why this is a must win for most fans.

CBJ is getting a fourth and maybe fifth year regardless, but this game will probably tell a lot about what this program will look like in the future. A stable successful program, or yet more change.

What? So much for providing actual evidence to back up a point. What I was "essentially saying" is that our defense held OU in check pretty much to the same extent that it did before he was hurt based on the statistics of the game.

On second thought, never mind, you're right, I give, Maggitt stays in, doesn't get hurt, we win 45-0.

Right now we have momentum. We just beat a very very good Western Carolina team, but now we're going to take 150 freshmen to Gainesville to play the best Florida team of all time. I'm encouraged, but it's going to be a challenge, but we're getting 1% better every day. Resiliency.

........and yet many posters actually believe they are more superior game day managers than the coaching staff.
