I've seen so many posts with the line "Butch better win in Gainesville!"

and I ask why? Florida still has more depth and talent than us(its close) and we are playing on the road in a very loud stadium. I just hope we compete and fight for 4 quarters win or lose I think we have a good coach and a team that is a year away from competing for an SEC championship.

Because people are pissed about the last ten years, they hate the way the OK game went down, and they believe in all the recruiting stars too much.


Some of it is fair, some isn't. Is what it is.

Because enough douches said it enough times. Unfortunately at this point it's true. There are a bazillian folks working against the vols right now and half of them are Vol fans.

Because we get slogans, coach speak, excuses, and no big wins.

It's time for some quality wins.

It's time for Butch to prove he's a SEC Coach. He's a great recruiter and PR image for TN, but he needs to prove he can get some wins. Vandy, SCjr, and Kentucky doesn't count.

Because this is his year to build equity with the fan base. The OU loss hurt so it wasn't a good start. It's time to win some games. Not the rest of them.. Just at least 8

Because it's put up or shut up time. C J and his coach speak is getting on people's nerves. Plus people aren't sure if he's going win.

I'm optimistic about the future too. And i think a lot of the vitriol spewed around here is unfounded. But as a fan base, i feel the simple reasons are...

1. The streak
2. The way we lost last year.
3. And how we lost to Oklahoma the exact same way.

It's probably a must win if he wants to win more than 7 games this season.

I like Coach Jones but I admit we should have won both those games and conservative coaching probably had a hand in losing both

I thought so too but then I saw how terrible Arky, Mizzou, USCJr are so far...they could get it figured out but right now we would be favored in all those games..add in UK, Vandy, and North Texas..and that is 8 wins before a bowl game

This is a must win game! The fans know this and even Butch knows this. If we win, it keeps our expectations of winning 8 to 9 games alive. If we lose, we possibly have another 7-5 season which would be a huge fail for Butch. Anyone who doesn't think this is a must win game, you might want to rethink that.

Because we should have beaten them in each of the last two years. Because the fans are starved for a win we can point to and say Butch is the guy. He's an outstandng recruiter and face of the program, but he will ultimately be judged on winning.

I heard all off season that we will beat UGA also.
Because "they don't have a qb."




Unless you count that guy that set the completion record.

Probably not a must win. I think OU was probably a must win if we were going to achieve everyone's lofty preseason goals. Most of us have battered Vol syndrome when it comes to UF. I don't expect to pick up a win down there.

As far as Butch goes. The more he loses to the teams that matter, the more difficult it becomes for people to continue buying what he's selling (Fans and players alike). He has a very young team. Year 4 will be his put up or shut up year, not this one.

Im giving Butch until this time next year before I start jumping off the bandwagon. He has done too much good in his time here for me to start questioning him. I don't agree with some of the calls. Kicking a FG instead of going for a td against Oklahoma at the 1 yard line in the first half. Hopefully he can win some important games this year but if we start out flat next year then I will really start to wonder if he is "the guy" at UT. Until then I fully support Butch and the Vols, win or lose.

Because must people only care about one thing in this world... Themselves. They live boring, stagnated, unimportant lives and live out their dreams of becoming a sec head coach through social media. Sorry but it's true.

and please some coaching with heart and soul not 4 to five hours worth of analysis on what to do on the 1 foot line .

All depends on how you define a must win. In the minds of fans? Biggest game of Butch's career to date. In the mind of his boss? Eh, he's here next year at bare minimum.

I'd expect Mizzou to right the offensive ship before we get to them.
Their defense is pretty good. Playing there if I recollect?

I have no desire to coach TN, but I call it like a see it. Me, and MANY MANY more see Butch under performing on gameday.
