Why is everyone....

Yep, this is the lamest thread of all time. E-Vol, you cannot win this argument -- the facts are stacked way too much against you.

I, and just about everybody else it appears, am tired of getting blown out by our rivals and losing to highly mediocre Pac-10 teams (blown out by a 6-6 Cal team last year, and losing to a sub-500 UCLA team this year), and then hearing our genius coach promise to "work like heck to correct it." Why can't he "coach like heck" in August so we play well in September.

Foolmer has proved that he is only capable of getting the team up for one game a year, max, and I am tired of it. It really isn't fun anymore.

The bottom line is that if you are Tennessee and you can't be competitive with florida, then the coaching and program are lame. We HAVE to be competitive with and beat florida--THAT is the standard. And not only do we not do that, Fatimus Phil gets his big hiney handed to him by florida every year with another humiliating loss caused more by UT's incompetence and ineptitude than anything the gators do. That's the big issue here.
Yes its been like this for awhile. Seems like those who matter would be getting tired of it too.

I agree with E-Vol in that we all need to wait and see what happens over then next few weeks. You can't honestly tell me that firing Fulmer today at 3 would improve the team. However, I do think that the negativity is warranted we have come out flat the past 5 years. That isn't "players not playing the way they were coached", that's coaching. Fulmer deserves to be on the hot seat for the way the team is playing. If he doesn't get it turned around then he deserves to be fired. But we should all wait and see if happens rather than spreading the doom and gloom now.

You can survive in this league with a good offense and a mediocre defense (see 06 + 07) . The opposite is not true (see 05 and 08 so far).

this is absolutely wrong. UF went 9-4 last season with one of the best offenses the conference has ever seen.

If you think we are going to come anywhere close to 9 wins this year, you are absolutely wrong. I'm not talking about winning a championship, that clearly takes a good D, but if you cant move the ball effectively you're not going to crack .500 in this league, which we won't this year

In 05 we had an one our our better defenses, not mediocre. The problem is that it seems the players figure it out on their own throughout the season, and improve. Along with playing Vandy and KY and a homecoming school near the end of the year.

The coaches should PREPARE the team better before the season starts. After game 1, you should also see marked improvement on any remaining problems. We have the same problems at the start of each year. AND after the first two or three games.

LACK of PREPARATION or at the very least proper preparation. The players have changed over the past 8-9 years, but the coaches (HC) and his philosophy have not, basically neither has our outcome. (I know last year we played in the SECCG, but we would have deseerved to have been there, if we'd beaten fla.)

Out caoched usually means the other coach prepared better, and/or made the right adjustments DURING the game. The only adjustment I remember us making during a game is to adjust to the mustang.

I understand that my argument is not winnable at this juncture that we are going to be a great team (which I really am not trying to imply)

My main point with the thread is I feel like our fans expecially wouldn't be ones to give up on a season only three games in...because our team has proven over the years that they can turn things around.

I may personally be stupid thinking that this will happen, I just figure as an overall fanbase we would give it a little more time than 3 games.

All the real fans are going to continue to watch every game, but this season just feels different from last year's. In terms of the SEC race, we're right where most people felt like we would be. But that doesn't take into account the fact that we've all known that we're in trouble since the UCLA game

Isn't this a supposed "rebuilding" year for us?
If it is, then should we not have more faith and support for the program?

Freaking out?

I am going to go on record saying I really do think we will come out and play solid ball this weekend and pull out a W. This will totally reverse everyone's mindframe and after we finish 9-3 everyone will realize that this wasn't Fulmer being horrible, it really was just a green QB(and not a very intelligant one) having trouble grasping a new O.

We can still have a good year...if everyone will just stay positive!:rock2::pepper::thumbsup::clapping:

Oh yeah... Go Vols!!! Beat the war eagle/tigers/plainsmen...what the hell are they anyway???

Freaking out?

First of all let me start by saying, yes I was in Neyland last weekend and almost lost all the food and drinks that I enjoyed tailgating before the game after the awful first half performance...

BUT, it seems that last year would have taught us as fans that three games DOES NOT make a season. Yes we have played terrible but we CAN turn it around our problems are fixable.

We still need an offense...last year we had one. At least a QB with a sense to actually throw it to a reciever with accuracy!!! :ermm:

This is one reason we need new blood. The phrase ''rebuilding year'', that should be ''reloading year''. If the Vols have such an awesome recruiting staff as most in the nation think we have why should some seasons be rebuilding? One part of me loves ole CPF for leading this program to a national title, another part says coach you've had your day in the sun, you've been analyzed so much oppositions know what your gonna do before you do. Fresh ideas and a new attitude of winning the national title every year should be this this programs goal..every year. Anything less is compromising and settling for mediocrity and coming from a university that demands contributions for the right to buy a season ticket should understand expectations. CPF needs to retire while his legacy is still a positive one for the university and the fans more so than for himself. Go Vols!
