Why is everyone so down on Tyndall?

Probably for the reason you alluded to in your post, OP: he isn't the reported first choice.

I think his track record is superior to the one White is currently putting together. Our most successful coaches, Mears and Pearl, were also coaches with considerable and quality experience at smaller programs. They were individuals who embraced the demands of Tennessee basketball fans with a smile on their faces and their arms open wide. Tyndall is cut from the same cloth.

I don't know how Hart got to this point. I don't really care how he got there. What I know is this: he needed to replace his last basketball coach with someone with a track record as good or better.

If that man is Tyndall, then Hart has definitely made an upgrade over Martin. We would be getting a basketball coach with a far better track record, one who does not fear the ambition of a hungry fanbase for quality basketball played at a consistent Top 20 level. We are capable of doing that at Tennessee. Tyndall gets it in the same way Mears and Pearl got it.

You don't know what the funk you're talking about. Saying "they turned us down" is easy to say. But the question that always goes unanswered is... "WHAT WERE WE OFFERING?"

We can easily conclude that the answer to that is..."NOT MUCH." Based on what, you say? I'm glad you asked. Based on the the fact that White balked because of the low-balling effort of Dave Hart....trying to get off on the cheap if we fired the guy. Same damn mistake he made with Coach Martin's "re-worked" contract.

Hart tried to get away with only having to pay 14% of the remaining contract if Martin was fired. That was the last straw and he bailed. So, this is all on Dave Hart. He went shopping in Beverly Hills with coupons in hand...and got no takers.

Most posters on here didn't want Pearl back because he has baggage and all of a sudden they are ok with a midget with baggage. smh....Hart and Booger needs to be fired. I hope they have something for him to stand on at the presser.

He's a proven winner and wants to be here. That should be enough. He deserves time to see what he can do

Some folks are going to be negative just for the sake of expressing their own misery. If they don't get their way, they whine. And oddly enough, if they DO get their way, they whine. They have issues. Pray for them.

Could give 37,000 reasons why, but here's the logical response to both:

1. Tyndall is not an upgrade over what you had before.
2. Great coaches don't want to come to UT because idiot fans on the fringe run them off.

If idiot fans ran off coaches, UK would have been coachless for a few decades now.

Everyone who is down on the hire needs to realize that UT will not pay enough to attract the big name coaches in any sport!! We got Jones for that reason and it looks as if we are going pan out very well with Butch. So don't get down just show support and lets get some excitement back in the program like the football program is doing!

A big name coach does not want to come to Tennessee when he looks at what we have coming back. Just like in football. Butch will get us back on top in football and I believe Donnie will be good for UT basketball. I thank Butch and Donnie for coming here and putting in the hard work it will take to clean up the mess they were left. You waite and see after Butch and Donnie get us back on top there will be a lot of big name coaches that will want the Tennessee job. So all you big name coaches you can shove it we have our coaches at Tennessee. :hi:
