I tell people that I help with recruiting ALL the time, and I'm not being disrespectful to you by this saying this, but
ranking and ratings mean absolutely nothing once the kid has graduated. Rankings are based on
CAMPS and
reporters who like you as person. Most times they're unfair and kids that really deserve some of the ranking get overlooked.
when I educate my upcoming parents and student-athletes, this is one of the first things I teach. Use camps and rankings to your benefit. Don't let them use you for theres. I need a thread for this one all by itself.
Rankings are based on State, school classification, some performance, some elvauation. Use "CAMPS" during high school thru the summer of your 11th grade year ONLY! if you don't have any offers or serious lookers by that time, start using recruiting agencies.
You can be ranked top 100 by all these agencies... but what does that mean really? Top 100 in position, state, city, county, or country? It makes a difference.
I'm going to stop there because there are SO many factors in that game of ranking. I know first hand and I used everyone of them to our advantage, and once we found what we wanted which is UT. A senior in high school should
NEVER do camps any more. Camps at that point can do more harm than good. One mistake in a camp, and you name becomes boo-boo the fool. My son was all county - all american - mvp -blah blah blah....it was all good in high school. That's so over but it got him where he needed to be. Once they hit college, it's back to the basics because now they're competing with the top players from all over the country.
I love
DRAE, and as fans I think some of you believe he's being overlooked. I don't! The media is hyping up other players. I think he is the surprise of this class. I think I'm going to start calling Drae the
"HULK" he's gonna put the that uniform on and show OUT and dang it I can't wait to see him do it.
