Why I will pull for Vandy (SOME) next season.

Not remotely. They're Vanderbilt, they're a nuance and an afterthought, not a rival. Even during the worst stretch of Tennessee football since the early 1900s....and the golden age of Vandie "football" since the early 1900s....we're 8-2 the last 10 games. It's laughable for anybody to think they're a rival IMHO.

Or 2-2 based on where your arbitrary cutoff points are. Guess that makes both progs even.

Gotta watch stats ... they are a playground.

There's a huge difference in reveling in the glory that is their demise and fall back to the bottom dweller and being on the mind.

They brought it on themselves for trash talking during their two good years.

I pretty much always root for Vandy in SEC games considering they are usually an underdog and no threat to win the East. I honestly can't think of a scenario where I wouldn't pull for them next year except for our game.

What? The better snapshot is taken with more data, not less. I specifically defined the time period I was discussing, said "the worst stretch in UT history", which can pretty easily be encompassed within the last 10 years. Coincidentally, that awful stretch of Tennessee football somewhat coincided with a "glory days" stretch of Vandie football, under Bobby Johnson and Snakehead Franklin. In other words, I wasn't trying to massage or play with the numbers to make a point...they are what they are....just pointing it out.

Someone's father was having surgery at Vanderbilt hospital as posted here in the last week or two. As I stated then, that is the ONLY time I ever root for Vandy.

My wife worked at vandie 35 years. It's where we go for medical stuff. Great hospital. That said, I have lived in Nashville 3 decades & will never root for the commode-doors! :hi:

If you're scared of Vandy hiring a coach, I don't care if its Nick Saban, you need to pick a new school to be a fan of.

No, no they haven't. Even in 2013, the supposed pinnacle season of all that is Vandie football under JimmyFranklin, when they won 9 games.....they finished 4th in the SEC East. Lol. Oh the humanity.

Vandy is like Benji Shuler (no offense to Benji) compared to Heath. They're the "how cute" little brother. Other than the Franklin years, I could really care less. It's not Auburn-Alabama hatred. We've got bigger fish to fry.

so if we do well with Shoop do you think Vandy would be the only school after him. if he leaves for Vandy that's his decision and his butt kicking each year.

If Shoop proves to be as good as his papers claim then that's great for us. That said, Shoop strikes me as a competitor, a guy who likes to win and taking a coaching job at Vandy would be the opposite of winning. Vandy simply will never be a program that other schools fear.

Great recruiting info there and several great posters.
A few oddly obsessed with the football forum members but we have our share of odd posters as well.
Plus it was just in jest, so if you are finished being a douche for no reason, we can carry on with other things :hi:

No, I think that is the worst case scenario.
I think that Shoop is going to di a great job for us locking down recruiting in the mid-state.
So, it will hurt us some there no matter where Shoop goes.
But, I really don't want him recruiting against us at Vandy or any other SEC school.

Because I think we are really going to like our new DC Shoop. And, Shoop has said that he loved his time in Nashville and Vandy as an assistant coach.
He will recruit that area great now for UT.

It does scare me if Mason gets fired that Vandy might come after Shoop as Head Coach there.

So, even if Shoop only stays with us for a couple of seasons (and remember he has no buyout), I would much rather see him leave our state and the South when he becomes a Head Coach somewhere after leading our defense to a few outstanding seasons.

I see what your saying and i agree with you just one thing, can you cheer for me as well because i will never cheer for Vandy. I'm sorry i want to but I hate Ohio State,USCw,Florida State and Vandy. Il never cheer for any of those 4 teams
