To be fair, I have seen Tennessee fans act like huge arrogant jerks towards Kentucky fans, Vanderbilt fans, Memphis fans, Alabama fans, and many more.
In the sense that Florida has enjoyed a period of relative prosperity from about 1994-2008, you are correct that a larger proportion of Florida fans are spoiled than UT or UGA fans. But this goes back to my observation that a lot of what will factor into how you are treated at a Florida game depends on whether you are encountering students or alumni. My advice, if you go, is to avoid the bars on University and instead tailgate. That's where the alumni are and that's where the good fans will be located.
I am a recent grad from UT and went to almost every road game while in school...I never received anything to extreme on anytrip (nothing worse than I see/give out at Neyland). The only reason Florida bothered me is the type of people that go there (mostly transplanted yankees)...I will say that the atmosphere in the Swamp is fantastic...the crowd is just much much more unified, not just the student section getting rowdy...wish we had more fans that would drink a little more TN whiskey and get into the games at Neyland instead of sitting on their hands.
This is the whole point LG, and I am glad you can admit it (major props, earned a lot of respect). When I go to every other SEC school I can go to their bar scene, but for some reason not Florida. I will agree that the tailgating with the UF alumni is probably a safer bet. Why can't I do both? I can everywhere else.
having been to many different stadiums, at varying game times, I can honestly say UF fans are in a class of their own (and it's not the honors class). I even gave Gainesville a 2nd chance and it was worse than the first
Sure is a lot of whining goin on in this thread. Man up!
They cursed at me and made obscene remarks to my half naked girlfriend. :cray:
