Why I Feel Better about the O-Line

If Chance is ready to go I will feel a lot better with UT's chances to win the game. Him and JJ make a great duo.

Flashback to Recruiting Class 2015 ... who saw this injured recruit from VA as a key for us going fwd? I remember the attitude being that he was kind of a "throw him on the class for a body" type player.

Kid is a bull out there. He's been a pleasant surprise.

Serious question , is it my bad eyes or has Tuttle and K Mac not been in a game at the same time this year. I haven't seen them in together any so far this year.

They have. I seeent it.

Both are starting to bring it too. Excited about them both this year. Escpecially if AJ & Quay (and maybe Bain) can give us a quality series or two per game. A fresh DL in the 4th Q, with our talent ... :good!:

I've been looking, and it may have been somewhere in here this fall, but where is Charles Moseley? After missing last year because of that wreck last summer (or whenever last pre-season) I expected something, somewhere out of him. Is he a non-factor? Still re-cooperating? We need help on the Oline. Especially this weekend when they will rush everybody and the kitch

He is filling the hole left by Dontavis Blair.

Bench needs someone to warm it.

What does it say about our OL and OL coach when we are wanting a true SO to come back and hopefully make our OL good? Good grief that's sad.

With the way Robertson has been struggling so far, I've really wanted to get a look at what he can do.

There's probably good reason he's buried on the depth chart, but you have to think a guy with his size and strength could manage not to get tossed around the way Robertson has thus far.

I think some player just have "it" and they can get the job done talent and skill are a part of that, but it goes alittle deeper.

For example Bama is starting a true freshman on their line, and you know they probly have 2 r 3 upper classmen that he had to beat out of that spot.

Another part of it is that they took players like Jack Jones, and Venzell Boulware who were projected as tackles in college by the recruiting services. And obviously they moved to guard.
Blair is gone, after milking all the free education that a 6'8'' 300lb body with unimproved play can provide.

Ten ways to get ejected from a college football game

Here is a list of 10 (ways to get ejected from a college football game),assembled with the help of a conference supervisor of officials:

  1. Targeting above the shoulder area. What used to be an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty can now result in an ejection if an NCAA rules committee proposal goes through.
  2. Flagrant personal foul. Think of a gunner running into a punt returner who has called for a fair catch.
  3. Unsportsmanlike conduct regarding a verbal assault. Example: A racial blast from one player to another.
  4. Fighting. The ejection penalty for this one is most similar to the new proposal. If a player is flagged for fighting in the first half, he misses the rest of the game. If it happens in the second half, he misses the rest of that game plus the first half of the next game.
  5. Two unsportsmanlike fouls in the same game. This mimics the two-technical rule in basketball. You’re gone if you get two of them in one game. Language has been added to this rule to include an “unsporting foul.” In other words, let’s say the first penalty is for roughing the passer but the second foul is for throwing the ball into the stands after a touchdown. That’s an “unsporting foul” and gets you thrown out of the game. Remember, it’s two in one game.
  6. Contact with an official. Needs no explanation.
  7. Use of tobacco products. That’s why you never see coaches or staff on the sidelines during a game with a chaw in their mouths. If you do, they aren’t hiding it well and those persons are subject to an ejection.
  8. Prohibited signal devices. In-helmet radios are allowed in the NFL. No, in college. If an enterprising staff was able to sneak one into the quarterback’s helmet for extra communication, that would be an ejection.
  9. Cleats more than a half-inch long.
  10. Unfair tactics. Call this one the “Three Stooges Rule.” No hiding the ball under your jersey. No funny stuff with duplicate jerseys. That kind of stuff.

Late in the third quarter, Florida starting left guard Martez Ivey was ejected from the North Texas game for throwing a punch. The ejection will have no affect on the true sophomore's availability for next weekend's game against Tennessee according to SEC officials.

So why is he cleared to play?

The applicable rule is for fighting. Brice tweeted a pic of the rule section shortly after last week's game, and it does call for the flagged player to miss the first half of the next game if the foul occurs in the second half. However, I have not seen a formal statement fron either the SEC or NCAA stating whether Ivey would be out for the first half of the UT game.

Would be very surpriased if Butch didn't sent a unanimous tip to the NCAA to review the case.

"The two guards were both 4* linemen for the star gazers"

I think by now, we should be seeing what this OL can do on the college field (not gazing on what they could do in HS) -- or at the least, the 2015-gazers should be seeing the same if not higher level of play in Games 1-3 of 2016, / translating to 2016, but it's just not yet been seen -- and this is why some are nervous about pass protection and run blocking going in to FL.

I still think team 120 can win this game.

Seems to me that speaks more to depth and talent than coaching.

Not taking up for Mahoney, but Jones and Hall are good.

OP didn't mention Kendrick but he played as well as any of them last week while facing Ohio's best DL most of the day. Basham is an NFL prospect I believe.

Yeah. Swapping a future NFL draft pick at RT for a C playing out of position... who isn't playing great anywhere is no big deal.

Just messing with you.

Hall IS a big deal He makes this OL better in every way plus he puts a guy who isn't playing well at all on the pine.

Just came to say I told you so. :)

We didn't run for 300 yards (179), but I think that has to do more with Florida's fast start leading to us having to throw the ball more. I would've bet everything I own that we wouldn't have passed for over 300 yards (319). O-line protected better anyone could've thought.

They were by no means perfect but dang they stepped it up in the second half.

So did Jumper, he really took a big step forward yesterday.
