I keep seeing the same comparisons, which I think is ridiculous.
Saban's 1st year at Bama gets compared to every coach we bring in. You know, NC winning Saban at a recent 10 win team.
I've seen us compare Butch or Pruitt to Smart who stepped into a program that fired their coach because 10 wins werent enough.
Now I've seen comparing Pruitt to Les Miles and Mack Brown's new gigs. The reasoning you would do this is beyond me, and Im not just saying that because its a new HC vs NC winning experience.
Why in the world would I want to compare my coach's rebuilding performance to that of some team thats not even in my teams conference?
I dont care what Kansas or UNC's condition was in and what they do. I am evaluating my coach based on how I see where the program is at in the SEC and where I expect the program to be at vs their rivals at such n such timeframe.
So for those complaining because of what Miles or Brown has done in their 1st couple games or will do this year... just stop it.

And I'm not throwing out the value of comparing coaches, just saying compare the right ones.
I'll also not suggesting you looking at a coach you wanted and making a comparison is bad. For those who wanted Les Miles, you can point to him and say "see, we should have hired him".

Pruiit is coming up short at this moment in time regardless of the comparison used. Apples to apples, or oranges or grapes; CJP is not coming out with a good look.

No agrument here. Im basing my evaluation of him based on that and not comparing him to Miles and Brown.

All this is fine as long as Fulmer is prepared to play the “long” game with Pruitt, and all indications at that he is. I like Pruitt and his staff...and think he can build us the right way as long as he has enough time. Problem is, though plays are made or not made on the field, he’s tightening the reins every time players execute in a way that resembles high school more than college...to me, some of the basics stuff falls on Pruitt still leaning how to be a HC, when we don’t have time for training wheels....kick two field goals instead of going for it on 4th and 1 two times, and the last play of the game is irrelevant. Call time out with 17 seconds left in game to make for sure everyone knows their assignments, if your team has shown the propensity to have errors in responsibilities... etc, etc.

The UT job is a revolving door. Pruitt was the only person to take the job.

Repeating that lie, won't make it true.

I really like Mike Leach.

However, we don't actually know if he would have taken the job. Secondly, Leach's primary reason for wanting a job like TN HC is to find out if his system would work in the SEC. I'd love to see it, but I'm not sure that's the kind of proven track record that many think we would get with Leach.

Also, keep in mind it has taken Leach several years (like 4 or 5) to turn his programs around. Not sure he'd get that kind of time at TN.

4-5M to get him here
52-40 at Washington State
136-83 between two schools
7-7 in bowls

Sounds like the perfect recipe to pay 4-5 to fire in 4-5

This all day. Sometimes people make the simple complicated. Whatever you think MIGHT happen in the future, Pruitt has not been good to this point. Week one was literally a historical loss. Whatever spin or narrative you try and create, he has failed so far.

It’s Washington St. Id say what he’s done there is relatively impressive. Also, give him our facilities and access to talent. We’d certainly be a perennial Top 25 team with an even higher ceiling.

He’s had 6 seasons to get there. He’ll never get that time at Tennessee and we’ll be stuck with another buyout.

Wonder why some other school hasn't hired him away? He holding out for us?

Good morning, Jeremy. Shouldn't you be busy doing other things right now?

It’s still a point. We’d be in the same spot whether we want to admit it or not. The press conferences would grow old and just beating Vandy and Kentucky would too.
Beating GA St, BYU, Vandy and Kentucky all in the same season would be an improvement

Whether you like him, or think he would be successful or not is is irrelevant, but saying that Pruitt was the only person who wanted the job is flat out not true.

I guarantee Leach would have a better record than Pruitt after 14 games at UT.
