Why Herman was fired at Texas

Burnt Orange Nation probably isn't the best source for an unbiased look at a coach they foolishly fired. They signed the 17th rated class through early recruiting, including the 8th 5 star recruit of the Herman era. Strong signed 1 in the 3.5 recruiting classes he had there. Herman's 3 full classes were #3, #3 and #8 nationally.

Texas also didn't do recruiting any favors by actively trying to hire Urban Meyer before early signing day.

Only thing with Herman is that he’s not been a head coach longer than 4 years and you do not know what kind of recruits he’s trying to recruit, he never had a season with just his players

Texas should really give us perspective. We always ask ourselves how/when will we ever be good again, but at least there are reasons for our lack of relevance (bad hires, the SEC being so strong, having to play Bama/UGA/Florida every year, etc). Texas fans have to be scratching their heads. There’s no reason why Texas shouldn’t always be in the mix with Bama/Clemson/Ohio State, etc, but they aren’t even relevant. Considering the Big 12 is abysmal, that has to be frustrating.

We’re not the only blue blood that has it bad.

Herman for sure deserves to be on the list, he had alot of folks to please there and he was winning. Just not fast enough I guess, I was kind of shocked they fired him this year to tell the truth. But then again Texas does some strange things sometimes. Not many get fired when they win 8 games and he seemed to have them going a little better than previous coaches. Worthy of a interview for sure. GBO!

Seems that way. Chris Low pointing at Kiffin. CLow pretty connected. Boyd saying TN isn't on the job training then getting White. Kiffin not signing his contract extension with large raise at Ole Miss...

Guess it'll be Heupel or Napier then.
Rather have Kiffin than Heupel or Napier, need a proven coach that can coach up with the big boys!

Have a cousin and his family in Austin for work. They aren't native but that city and the academic faction are some of the most woke morons around and they have an impact on campus that's been steadily gaining strength. Their liberalism makes "sex week" seem conservative. They can't wait to get out of there. Sark has his work cut out for him.

Me too brother. Don't want another Saban disciple of any kind. Heupel isn't awful. Have done worse. Kiffin is the best offensive mind in college football. Took Saban to the brink in year 1 with leftover scrubs from prior regime. Impressive. Let Kevin Steele be his DC, bring in Garner as Dl. Beast staff. Walk-off grand slam..
