Why go for 2? Dumb

exactly... the stupid announcer kept doggin him for the call but if we had made the extra point we wouldve been 16 down and after the next touchdown we wouldve gone for two... no difference...

exactly right. if we kick the XP we are down 16 and have to go for 2 twice. Why not try it right it right off the bat - it's a long shot to get 2 out of 3 two pt conversions.

But you may not have to do it all if you just kick the XP's.

Now we're down 14 instead of 13. If we had made that 2pt conversion, we'd be down by 12 which doesn't make a bit of difference.

How many stupid threads can you start in one day, every time I open this website I see another one from you. We were going to have to do it at some point, and the coaches obviously saw something they liked as the coaches were hurrying everyone up to the line before florida could substitute. It would've worked to if the snap was good.

4th and 2 on the 2 and a half yard line. If we don't go for it there, this board would have exploded!

probably, because if you get no points - you still have to score 2 TDs and 2 2pt conversions just to tie it

you get the FG you have the whole quarter to score 2 TDs and win or 1 TD and 2 FGs and tie

it'd be up to the coach, but you don't want to come away from there without any points

With that logic, we would have been down by 9. We make it and we would've been down by 8.

still going to be 2 scores.

Might as well make it the more reliable 2 scores rather than getting nothing, still having to go score twice AND go for 2 twice (I can't tell you the actual percentage of getting a 2 pt conversion once, but twice has to be pretty poor)

I totally get what you're saying, but I think if he kicks the extra point there, we don't kick the field goal later. They had to drag TB off the field as it was.

Oh and I heard ya SGM, but I learned a while back that there is no point in trying to have an intelligent conversation with you, PERIOD.

to each their own here. my opinion would be he'd take the points to try to avoid falling even further behind against Florida with so much time left, but i can understand your ideas here as well

Agreed, I'd just rather know if I need 2 scores or not in the last 2 minutes as opposed to relying on the 2 point to tie. All of it is predicated with your D holding though.

If you've got to make two two-point conversions anyway, then I don't see why it's a colossal f-up to go ahead and try it and see what you need to do later. You still theoretically have time to recover if you miss it early. You don't if you put off trying the first two-pt conversion and miss it with five minutes left.

Right. This thread is for those who can't do math.

Well known fact: CBS hires retards.

Also, people who go along with everything announcers say don't have critical thinking skills.

Finally, to those who say it was too early and you don't know what is gonna happen, we were down 30-7 when we scored, LATE in the 3rd. Our only hope at that point was to somehow hold them at 30. I fully supported the call. I think one reason Dooley did it was to signal to the team that this game wasn't over.

Great post WesternKyVol! I've been saying that all day, I think another thing to add to that is that since we were going to have to go for two at some point this was as good of time as any to go for it. Hurrying up to go for two had Florida a bit out of order, and the play was there if the snap would've been there.
