Why Fulmer and not Blackburn?

Fulmer still has credibility within the coaching fraternity. A prospective new coach will believe Fulmer will have his back. Currie lost all credibility within that fraternity when he lost control with the Schiano debacle. No coach will work for an AD who they believe will fold under pressure.

I take it the lack of replies to the repeated questions as to why Blackburn resigned in June is because nobody has any info on it. My searches only return that he resigned from UTC. No reasons given. His reasons may have bearing on his consideration for UTK AD going forward. Again, anyone have a link to a report providing the reasons behind Blackburn's resignation?

There is nothing official out there. It was said that he was resigning "to pursue other interests". Another article suggested that perhaps Blackburn's public plea to become UT's AD may have not sat well with his administration.

Because Fulmer has no experience for one reason, and that's the UT way. And because he represents a sizable power faction in the UT family is another. They see it as getting "their man" rather than getting the best qualified man for the job.

Reminds me of Wisconsin. How many good coaches left Wisconsin because they didn't want to work for Alvarez anymore?

I know they've been successful, but they're also in one of the top two weakest Power 5 divisions in football.

Currie lost it when he was at UT the 1st time. And lost it more with his garbage at Kansas State. No credible coach will work for Currie. As you just saw.
