Most everyone realizes that we are young and have played 33 Freshman over the past two years due to attrition and we've had numerous injuries, however there are reasons fans are upset:

1. We do not seem to be improving and fans have no hope. All you have to do is look at our offensive line. They have had double digit starts now and are worse this year than they were last year.

2. This is our fourth year in a row of sub par football. Five wins in 2008, seven in 2009, six in 2010, and we will be fortunate to win six this year. We are tired of losing. The last time we were relevant in the SEC was 2007.

3. The SEC East could have been had the past two seasons and we are not even in the mix. Florida is down now two years in a row. Georgia was bad last year. No one would have every dreamed several years ago that USCjr would have won the East.

4. Dooley hasn't proven he can coach 21 games into his tenure. He is 3-10 in the SEC and still hasn't gotten a signature win. We are still seeing stupid mistakes even in year two. Some areas of the team have regressed from last year.

5. We haven't had a quality win within the conference since we beat Georgia and South Carolina in 2009. We beat who we are supposed to beat and lose to who we are supposed to lose to. An upset give fans hope for the future. Cincinnati was a nice win, but a quality SEC win is needed.

6. The play calling is awful. We are way too predicable. Everyone knows on 4th and 1 we will run a QB sneak. Calling a pass play with a FR QB on the two yard line was stupid.

We will be fortunate to win six games this year and go to a bowl game. We won't become relevant in the SEC again until we get better on the offensive and defensive lines. If you look back at when we were good, we could line up and run the football and play good defense by stopping the run and getting after the QB.

Actually, they called a run play on the 2 and it lost 3 yards. The pass call was on 2nd and goal on the five. The call wasn't bad, the throw was. Can't blame the coach for the qb making a terrible decision.

If the call was a pass over the middle it was stupid.

Should have passed on first down when SC had 8 guys at the line of scrimmage to stop the run.

This is it exactly. The longer Dooley stays, the longer we will suck. Even if he amasses a stockpile of talent soon, he will never be able to win close games, he has proven that time and again.

I know we will take another hit getting a new coach, but until we do we will not be relevant again. I hope we lose to Vandy and Kentucky so this mess will not continue next season. Thanks Mike Hamilton....you bastard.

...but this is an accurate assessment. I would only differ in that I don't think we will win another game this year...we are shooting blanks...have we scored more than 6 points lately? We know we don't have depth and have been plagued with injuries to some of our best players BUT the players we have are not being developed...it's not all their fault...when you are on a mediocre team, I'm sure the enthusiasm wanes for all the players too. I feel bad for all of them but we are anemic and lacking in motivation. The defense played fairly well but why then when you recover a fumble do you go for a LONG, ILL-ADVISED pass by a new quarterback. The play calling last nite was ATROCIOUS!! I am usually the ultimate OPTIMIST and I will always support my VOLS but something is terribly wrong and God knows I don't want to go through changing coaches again but for some reason the MOTIVATION is not there and I don't know why. I have been a fan for a long time and this is the worst I have ever seen TN play! It didn't happen overnight but someone was not minding the store and it isn't just one person's fault but somebody has to take the bull by the horns and restore this program THIS YEAR not NEXT YEAR or THE YEAR AFTER!

Here is all I can say to whomever this applies to. If you came into this season expecting to win the East, that's your own fault. Our team is not back up to par with our expectations. Take away Bray and Hunter and we're far worse than not being up to par. Until we have all the players we want on the field with a mix of experience and talent, don't expect SEC championships. You think Dooley wants Simms out there instead of a Bray? Zach Rogers instead of Hunter? No, but we don't have a choice. Get over it.

Even with all those starts, they are still less than two years removed from high school. Plus, our conference schedule this year is more difficult than last years.

It was his first game against the top passing defense in the SEC. You don't make him throw into a short field on an obvious passing down IMO.

If DD doesn't beat UF next year I will jump on the fire bandwagon. Until then, I still think he hasn't had a fair shake and should be allowed to continue another year.

Florida managed to go 9-3 in '07 with a bunch of FR and SO after their roster was depleted of upperclassmen from the 06 NC team and were extremely competitive in those 3 losses. The youth excuse is getting tiring, as is the lack of depth. You're not tired after sitting on your ass for 20 min at halftime yet we come out and get dominated the next 15 min week after week, then the depth issue sets in. Its been said time and time again, but adjustments are not being made. We've seen good coaches go away from what wasn't working against us in the first half and we've not been able to adapt to their changes. Watching Shaw run off tackle on just about every 3rd down got old.

I don't want to be quick to dismiss Wilcox because I do think he's bright (and defense was solid last night) but he has made a living off dominating sub-par coaches, hence why they're still coaching at WAC schools. His competition is now the best in the country, which is evident based on salaries and sustained success.

IMO it would go a long ways if these coaches just admitted one time they made a mistake in something. Instead of touting youth, injuries, player mistakes/lapses as the reasons or saying this team is incapable of beating anyone at this time.

Regardless of the hatred towards him, after that UCLA debacle in 09 Kiffin stood up and said the last series was squarely on him and his play calling. You can't consistently blame it on players, it eventually wanes their confidence, as it should, to what are ultimately still kids.

Don't tell Fooley he cant blame the players. He will probably blame the fan base, the grounds keepers, the hot dog vendors, and the guy that cleans the toilets.

here's why fans should really be peaved, tennessee if they dont win 7 games including a bowl this year, it will be the first time in 100 years that tennessee has had back to back losing football seasons. how's that for a low a point.

Vandy is much more improved this season. I counted a win against Vandy earlier in the season. Is Vandy still a win? Games left for November: Middle Tennessee, Vandy, Arkansas and Kentucky. Will the Vols split in November or win 3? If we split it's a 5-7 season. Need 3 wins to go 6-6!

If this was the team we had in preseason, everyone and I mean everyone would have picked 6-6 maybe 7-5 best case scenario. Just another mindless rant from angry frustrated fans. I don't even know what's worse anymore: watching our offense the last 3 games or getting on the board and reading these threads afterwards like all these unforeseeable cathartic revelations...

Man I love your passion. Nothing better to get things turned around then losing to Vanderbilt and Kentucky. How could anyone that loves UT possibly want us to lose to those two teams?

Why should anyone have expected or even accepted 6-6 when you return a team that was 2 sec away from being 8-5 last year? Florida is down even more and is breaking in a new staff, UGA came off a 6-7 season and lost their best player and had no returning RB's, we took LSU to the wire on the road with Simms, Bray had a valent comeback effort against USC, but we were just behind the 8-ball too much from the first half. Given last year's "moral victories", coupled with experience for our young guys and the fact USC and UGA were at home, it wasn't unreasonable to expect 8 victories, with the possibility of more given UF and Ark sporadic play.

Most homers as you call them don't think that Fooley is the best in the country, but are smart enough to realize that a h coaching change at this point would be disastrous.
Yes Dooley needs to clean house as far as his staff goes.
Recruiting is on schedule and if he doesn't win when his seniors are playing then he needs to go when the program has some semblance of stability.

You are crazy if you think we beat UF next year and even if we did it would be because they suck. We will NEVER beat a good team when we can't run the ball. It is as simple as that. Be prepared to want to fire Dooley because he will never beat any good SEC teams with this run game.
