We have great recruiting classes and the roster is stacked!! We are every bit as good as OK, Bama, etc. We proved we belong on the field. My question is

1. How are other teams even less talented like Vandy and Usce out developing our players?

2. What do we need to do to better develop our players.

3. How do you develop a player?

These are basic kindergarden questions. But I'm tired of the bull crap? we deserve answers. Since Butch talks to us like we're idiots maybe we need to have an understanding of what's really going on from team 187.

Butch Jones.

BSiA

The fact that a major college coach doesn't bring in a true qb coach should tell you all you need to know.

The leader of the team should have a position coach that isn't just a G.A.

The coach is not developing. A good coach at 2nd tier universities in non-Power 5 conferences remains unable to coach at a Power 5 school.

Give Nick Saban our talent and he turns them into All Americans. Recruiting matters big time in the SEC but if you don't have a coach who can't develop them properly, it's not going to work. That's one of Butch's main weaknesses.

this is not an accurate statement.

the last four classes were ranked 21, 5, 5 and 15. That is not great classes that produce a stacked roster.

Alabama - 1, 1, 2 and 1 are great classes that produce a stacked roster.

Auburn - 8, 9, 6 and 9. These classes should produce a very good roster with good but not great classes

LSU - 6, 2, 8 and 5. Almost there. need to get the 6 and 8 to top 5.

Great rosters are classes that AVERAGE top 5 in recruiting rankings. Those make up championship rosters.

If your averaging outside the top 10, you are not going to be competitive with programs in the top 10 and certain not close to competing with top 5 classes. Why we are below the three above.

Florida has not even been as good as Tennessee the last 4 years. It showed on the field when we beat them this year and should have beaten them the previous 2 years. But of course coaches can take great, very good, good or bad players and coach them into losses.

Too many Tennessee fans believe this roster is much better than it truly is. You can have a couple classes that are top 5 and then add a 15 and 21. leaves too many holes to fill when injuries or defections strike.

just my opinion

edited note: This staff has never been a great recruiting staff. They are average

Saban is coaching mostly 5 stars and 4 stars. He brings in a 5 star player and he has a 5 star playing beside him. That covers alot of mistakes on the field.

Yep and what the players lack in understanding and fundamentals they make up for in speed. When you can do that at every position in the field, you have what Alabama is now.

What?! Wow!!

All those guys, except maybe JRM, was ready to ball the moment they got on campus. Barnett, Sutton and Wolfe looked like All Americans in their first games. Wolfe has regressed. Dobbs has not developed as a passer. Kamara is the same guy that set foot on campus. Hurd was a workout warrior and got stronger. Never learned to make good cuts and read defense. Malone is still not living up to his potential.

If you want to give Butch credit for JJ and Berry, I think that's a stretch. Really think that Berry hasn't been utilized properly to be honest.

The two classes ranked 21 and 15 were classes we had to take more linemen in Top 5 classes were skill position classes. Now Alabama gets many 5 star lineman and thats why their rankings are higher. The only way we are going to compensate for that is being able to redshirt two or three classes of lineman and we are just now at the point we can do that.

Most miss their red shirt year which puts pressure on their minds and bodies before they are ready. They need that year of development before facing the rigors of an SEC season. We see injuries, mental mistakes, locker room and off field issues that can be related to early playing time. There were good reasons why freshmen weren't allowed to play back in the old days.

The talent is there to develop the skills to play the game. They didnt learn to play Sec football in high school. Jj was a QB and never played reciever and Sutton was 3 star they recruited. I have read your posts for 6 years and you still dont know anymore now then when you started
