He should go. i want him back as bad as anyone, but it just isn't worth the risk. Maybe him leaving lands us Elam and a future stud at SS. That would be best case scenario.

Regardless if Berry goes or stays its his choice. If he stays, great. If he goes, I wish him nothing but the best. Its almost a win/win situation for him. He could stay and get something NOBODY or injury could take away- a college degree. If he goes he could be set for life financial wise as long as he is wise with it. But money can be gone in an instant. Again I wish him nothing but success either way. BTW welcome to the board VolsFTW. Very good first post. It was well thought out regardless if others may not agree. Post often bro!!

Maybe just maybe, Eric is NOT all about the money...

Regardless, I'll be an Eric Berry fan for life.

I just want the decision to be EB'S. Whichever direction he decides the fan base should support him.

I just can't wait to watch him no matter where it's at.

Would be nice if he could play at UT and the NFL at the same time:rock:

I usually don't ask for much:)

I think he is wanting that record and I think he has talked the coaches into letting him do more of a Charles Woodson role playing some wildberry possibly returning some kickoff's which will really put him at top of list for the Heisman next year! Plus I think he sees that next year if he returns that Defense wins Championships and he knows Montey be getting some great recruits in and wants the chance to win a national championship. Don't know people may just think I'm dreaming but it seams like these kids arereally starting to buy into the Kiffin philosophy! At least I hope that's what happens! If so this will seem like the longest off season we ever had! Plus can you imagine all the Eric Berry hype he be getting for his Senior year! I can hear it now Woodson who? If a defensive player ever deserved a Heisman Trophy it sure wasn't Charles Woodson it Eric Freaking Berry!!!!

As several have said his stock cannot be any higher! If he stays his stock can only fall see Matt Leinert, Taylor Mays, Sam Bradford, Arian Foster, Johnathon Heffney etc etc you throw in the possible lockout in 2011 and it's not looking good...Everyone says he should stay say he does when he finishes his senior year the NFL could still be locked out whats he to do then and have no money at that!

I'd LOVE for E.B. to return to the Vols next year but seriously doubt it will happen. Just look at QB Sam Bradford at Oklahoma: do you think he's having second thoughts about returning to the Sooners this season?

What should be made of his decision not to participate in the "last tackle" drill? Coming back to do it as a senior?

Obviously Eric is going to do what he wants to do, but I would be shocked if he risked the rookie salary cap to come back for his senior season. If that's his decision, then go for it, but man...that says something about Eric and the Berry family.

This^

If that cap goes thru, I have heard he could lose a boat load early in his career. (up to 20 mil)

He should return, why on earth would he want to go somewhere like Detroit/St Louis/Cleveland or Oakland.

If he runs a sub 4.4 40 Al Davis will shart himself to draft him.

Al Davis at a press conference said he wants nothing to do with the talent under Lane Kiffin.

Eric Berry will make his decision based on where his heart is leading him. He is a wonderful young man and absolutely loves everything about UT. His teammates, the coaches, the fans--and he's made no secrets about how excited he is about everything going on and how bright the future looks in Knoxville. If his heart brings him back to campus for his senior season, then he should be celebrated. If he takes the next step to the NFL then he should be celebrated as well. Either way, Eric will go down as one of the greatest players--and people--to don the Orange and White. He will forever be a Vol and no matter what his decision is, we should only be happy for him and his family. The young man has earned it. I for one, will be ecstatic if he decides to return for his senior year, but if he goes then I wish him nothing but the best. Whoever drafts him is getting an elite athlete as well as a wonderful person of excellent character. He is Volunteer through and through...we as fans have been blessed with the opportunity to see him grow as a player and person these past 3 years. GO VOLS!!!!!

when do players announce? is there a set date or is it just whenever they decide to let the anticipating fans know?

I think his chances of staying are much greater than everyone on here thinks. We will all find out soon enough though.

I agree with you. My gut instinct is saying he will stay. However, my brain knows EB's best interests/checking account will be better served by going pro.

Davis is crazy, but i think he'd make an expection with Eric as he could say the talent was "under Fulmer" Kiffin just inherited him.

the people that say why would he want to play for a team like st. louis or cleveland or etc.. well one of my friends said he heard that the colts and rams could make a trade sending bob sanders to the rams for their first round pick, apparently some people in the colts organization are sick of him being sidelined 90% of the time.

i am trying to find a source and havent yet but if this is true then surely they would only want that pick to draft eric berry, and i would love that considering the colts are already my favorite team.. two tennessee icons on the same team?

... in which case, I will continue to follow just one NFL team!

When do you guys think he will announce his decision.... before the bowl game?

I personally think he will wait until after the bowl game. He's a classy kid and I don't think he would want any distractions for the team. However if he is staying(highly doubtful), I hope he announces after the UK game.
