CB have to put in a lot of film work to be good. Receivers head fake all the time. If you're a CB and running with a WR are you going to look back for the ball every time he looks back? If so he might just cut when you turn your head and boom he's wide open and you're running alone. But I'm sure it's just as easy as the announcers make it seem.

It will be ironic if we start beating Florida every year, but start a losing streak against South Carolina since our staff seems unable to figure out Muschump.

Because we are starting nickel and dime corners as CB1's & 2's. Foreman and Moseley have played like the 3* recruits they were recruited as and didn't develop as much as Sutton (also a 3*). Justin Martin didn't work out as had hoped, Osborne apparently wasn't ready and we had to play Buchanan earlier than he was maybe ready.

Injuries/lack of depth at LB puts more pressure on them as safeties have to help in run game. JRM was a huge blow because he was a lock at run stop allowing safeties to stay back and help CB's.

Florida has had better DBs almost all of the time. Even in Fulmer's best yrs, DBs were the weakness

1 reason... Recruiting! We have to find more Cam Sutton's who can come in and play right away

And the kids know which schools are best at which position...Florida and LSU just about broke out into a fight over which one is really DBU...once you are established the position just recruits itself...we've had runs in the past with WRs, QBs, RBs and even OL when Phil was recruiting...right now I don't think we are known for any one particular position...

I love Cam but he was a 3 star success story...most of our DBs fall into the fully adequate rating (like you give the guys at work who just do their jobs)...we need some star power at corner...a pair of shut down corners will do wonders for the run D and help with sacks as well...the '92 Bama team (I live in Bama) has two outstanding corners so they could play man coverage and shut down the run all day long...

We need some NFL caliber corners...

IMO our corners and safety are having to make to many touch down saving tackles. Their job is pass first and run second. They get burned on pass because they are having to back up the linebackers and the line . They can't trust the line to get it done . May be wrong just my opinion

This was discussed at length last year. There were some goobers here that said a defender should not turn to see the ball in the air. Can you believe that!
We have not had decent DB s in years. We do not recruit them and our coaches cannot coach them even if we lucked out and got a few good ones.
Statements by Vol fans: A defender should not turn to look for the ball. :crazy::dance::crazy::loco::crazy:
