There's only one person here who admits to knowing a poster who for sure isn't a Vol fan, and is just here to cause problems.
How much do you wanna bet that at least half of that story is made up?I've got a friend I graduated high school with who is a huge Alabama fan and despises TN. He is a member of the VN forum for years, posts under a Vols moniker and is only on here to push buttons and antagonize Vol fans. He gets a kick out of it and he's the reason I feel many of our NegaVol fans aren't really Vol fans here on VN. I'd let you know who he is but he won't tell me the name he goes by here. Coincidentally he knew Coach Pruitt back in his days at MTSU and played a bunch of pick up basketball with him at the time. Said Pruitt was always looking to pick a fight back then.
This post makes literally no sense. He didn't say that he wanted us to lose like many of the FF have stated. He actually asked a good question and got flamed by the Monty Python witch burners that make up about 75% of the FF right now.OP, I think your a fair weather fan if you can happily accept horrible football like this.
No real fan wants to see Tennessee get blown out week after week.
Do t actually think they are fair weather fans, simply like to express their displeasure. If they were honestly fair weathered, they would not be on here expressing the passionate views. Complaining about the state of the program and not being a loyal fan are totally different. A true fan does get angry and have high expectations. I can not question anyone’s loyalty or devotion to the Vols! Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.
If you are still a vol fan on volnation.com then you are not a bandwagon fan because we haven’t been a good team in 20 years. StopWhy do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? You described me as well. I have always been bb fan first then when bb fell off the cliff football filled the gap for awhile. I will never root for any college football team except TN but won’t make plans to go in person anymore, stop everything to watch or let it bother me if they lose. I watched the bb win last night even though it was not competitive because this team played all the way through as though it was a close game. That is TN. Football players could learn from the bb guys. Coaches could too.Reading through this thread, it strikes me that a lot of the folks that consider themselves "VFLs" and the rest of us "NegaVols" seem to view fandom as a job, a requirement, something they MUST do. In that context, if your job sucks, but your family depends on you, you suck it up and keep plowing ahead. So, if that's the way you view being a fan of Tennessee football, I can see that perspective.
However, call it age and wisdom, call it perspective, call it 15 years of amazingly stupid moves by the UT power structure, but for many of us, Tennessee football has assumed its rightful place. It's a passtime, it's a hobby, maybe even a passion, but it's not a REQUIREMENT. In that context, if it stinks enough for long enough, you find yourself just allowing it to drop in priority, And our comments will reflect that. I can't ever see myself 'adopting' another team, I'm Tennessee to the core, but my desire to watch a disinterested team, coach, and admin get its teeth kicked in week after week is dropping pretty quickly.
Just my observation.
WTF are you talking about? UT has the most loyal fanbase in college football. 90k plus still pack the stadium after 12 years of suck, you see people wearing swag all over the world and the most telling sign of how great this fanbase is is that we still care. We still care after the administration has shown they DGAF about championship level football, we still care even though there is no sign of hope for better days, we still care even though we KNOW a POS Gump will still be driving our beloved football program off the cliff next season.
GTF out of here with this "fair weather fan" bull! Few fan bases remain as loyal and caring as ours after over a decade of being fed crap.
I’m still trying to figure out what makes someone a “negavol”. That has to be the stupidest term I’ve ever heard. Are we supposed to run around like little kids with lollipops and short pants with a grin on our face when the team underperforms? Or sit back when one of the underperforming idiots tells us, as fans, that it isn’t our team? You may be happy being a mouth breathing follower, but, please don’t try and project your hurt feelings on the adults.
It’s very simple.....bc this program seems to have willfully became a fairweather program that doesn’t seem interested in making the right hires to compete with the big boys. Doesn’t concern me but in the past during all of the bogus hires they want to raise prices. How fans can support losing and not demand better is beyond me. TN is top 10-12 all time winningest program......act like it! (We were inside top 10 couple yrs ago)Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.
THIS. In my experience, it’s the fair weather fans who care so little that they aren’t super upset about the state of things. The more pissed off you are right now, the longer your butt has been in Neyland supporting them.WTF are you talking about?
