Why dont fans support this program no matter how bad the times get?

What is your value to the fanbase? What do you do for our football program?
I don't put a negative stain on our program as guys like you do. Look up the word perception and see what effect you and those like you have when folks look at our program. You guys are clueless as to just how much your constant negativity hurts our program I feel.

Tx won a Natty recently and was playing for natty's when $aban came to bubba. This is Penn State worst year in a while, not a decade of stink. Nebraska is not what they were in the 90's but have they been as bad as we are? Michigan is not near as bad as we are over the last 12 years.
I wouldn't call 15 years as being recently.

They all currently suck and looks like they're going to stink for a while. The quick easy fix isn't out there. TX won a national championship because they had a once in a lifetime QB playing for them at the time.

Michigan, Penn St, Nebraska and Texas would all like for you to simply fix them too.
Most of those programs are all in way better shape than Tennessee and all have competed on the national stage multiple times since Tennessee last did.

Michigan Penn State and Texas are just having down years due mostly to Covid I'd guess. Nebraska hasnt been anything since the 90s, just like Tennessee. Those two programs have been fundamentally broken for a long time.

The operative phrase is in bold for emphasis.

'Nuff said.

WTF are you talking about? UT has the most loyal fanbase in college football. 90k plus still pack the stadium after 12 years of suck, you see people wearing swag all over the world and the most telling sign of how great this fanbase is is that we still care. We still care after the administration has shown they DGAF about championship level football, we still care even though there is no sign of hope for better days, we still care even though we KNOW a POS Gump will still be driving our beloved football program off the cliff next season.

GTF out of here with this "fair weather fan" bull! Few fan bases remain as loyal and caring as ours after over a decade of being fed crap.
No they don't.

It's laughable that some people think you are not a true fan if you dare to criticize a coach, player, the administration, etc. Who the hell defines what a "true fan" is? I will give up football all together before I pull for any other team. However, I would see Tennessee give up the football program all together if they continue the path they're on.

Depends on if you were one of the ones doing the same complaining every day 12 years ago that got us into this situation. The NegaVols all claimed that all we had to do was get rid of Fulmer and move on that it would be easy to get a great coach here. How well did that work then, about the same way all the moaning and groaning is doing now I'd say.
I argued that Fulmer should get a chance to turn things around after 2005. For that matter, I argued that Dooley should get 3 years before people started hammering him with criticism.

I was wrong on both counts. For numerous reasons beyond just simply losing, Fulmer deserved to be fired. Dooley got one year more than he should have... and probably wanted.

Supporting high expectations for Vol football isn't being a "Negavol". It involves objective criticism... but if you think that is inherently negative... then you just need to grow up.

Pulaski says you're not a true fan if you question the BS he spews on here

Any supposed "fairweather" Tennessee fan would have long since abandoned hope. We happen to be the hardiest, most long-suffering, potentially deluded bunch in all of college football. Nega-Vol and Sunshine Pumper alike all have hope for a better day...we just disagree on how we get there. We are the Yin and Yang of Tennessee Football. The Republicans and Democrats. We need each other.

And occasionally we get a SUPERFAN like PVF, and the Universe gets all out of balance.

And how does complaining about an inept coach and administration on a message board put a "stain" on our program?

What puts a stain on our program is to have rival fans telling you how much they miss the old days when we were competitive. How much they don't even come to Knoxville anymore since they know it won't be a good game. That my friend is a "stain" on the program!

Don't forget that special sub group of NegaVols, The Legion of the Miserables. They are to be most pitttied, their suffering is legendary.
You guys seem to way more miserable than anyone else on VN. Plot twist: you and your ilk are the REAL legion of the miserables

How does one measure that?

Given that Tennessee has been abysmally putrid for over a decade and Tennessee on any given game day will still put more fans in the stands than 3/4 of the power 5 football programs is a good place to begin measuring.

Tennessee ranked 7th in the nation in attendance over literally the worst time in Tennessee football history.

Not been much fair weather in the last pretty much 20 years.. Now i'd take the disappointments of the 2000's over what we're experiencing now. At least we got there a few times. The brand doesn't sell itself as much as it used too. Too many years of suck will do that.

You pumpers kill me with your "logic"....at this point, supporting this administration is the same as living in San Francisco and being sick of all the homeless people crapping on the sidewalks, but going to the polls and voting for the same politicians election after election. Nothing changes as long as the customer accepts the mediocrity.
Ridiculous to think that anyone accepts and wants to stay mediocre and I doubt there is a single fan on here that feels that way. I've never heard a single person on here claim that so I call BS on you saying it's happening.

You literally have been arguing in JGs corner for the last 4 years, that is the very definition of mediocre

I used to attend 3 or so games per year, but I haven't been since the "peak" of the Dooley admin. I don't think I've finished watching a game on TV this season. I won't spend another dime on it, until they hire a coach with a decent resume and show a commitment to winning. If you want to blow your money on garbage, go buy a Fiat and drive across the state and cheer for nothing. I'll be spending my time doing something worthwhile until the admin gets serious about football.

I've been a Vol fan for at least 30 years. I've been on this board for 14. I've "supported" the Vols through some of the darkest years in program history.

I think if you are a VFL what you want most is for the Vols to win. You will NOT support failure resulting from poor coaching, recruiting, development, facilities, support, or AD decisions. You will care VERY MUCH how many games they win and never accept losing.

If that's truly your attitude then why not just be a Vandy fan? The tickets are easier to get. Losing is pretty much the accepted norm.

The day I adopt your attitude... is the day I stop being a Vol fan.
You have to keep supporting this team if you are a VFL.
