Honestly. No one seems to care these days and I cant see that the NCAA enforces anything. Everyone on the planet knows Cam Newton was paid and no repercussions. Miami? One of the dirtiest programs in the history of college football and Im just talking about recent history, no penalties. USCjr, gives players free rent....NCAA does nothing. Bama implicated in PEDs, nothing will happen. It just seem like we all we need is a middle man such as a church or a lawyer and we're home free (its pretty well known that for years ED O has funneled money to players through a local lawyer so its protected by privilege).

Now it seems like the Wild West and everyone has a Colt 45 except for us. Freeze at Ole Miss is just the latest. How he could ever get a 5 star black kid to play under the Stars and Bars is a mystery unless $$$ is involved.

Are we just not committed enough? Is it that we dont care enough about winning anymore? I miss Pearl, at least he wanted to win enough to have some illegal steaks. His only mistake was taking a pic imo.

bring back Trooper/Garner/Anyone willing and smart enough to not get caught.

Obviously Im joking to an extent, but seriously......

so you would take a 100% graduation rate over a NC? Give me wins and I will learn to live with being dirty.

You make great points. Auburn has been cheating for decades, back to the fifties. They have had guys go on 60 Minutes outlining the cash money they received. UK has cheated for years in basketball. It is almost like some programs are treated as royalty.

I thought the same thing about Ole Miss. Not a reflection on all of the folks there but that state's outlook on race relations over the years should make any minority kid run for their lives...no pun intended.

But, many of these programs go about their merry ways, getting a slap on the wrist every 10 to 15 years or so and just keep on cheating on.

The Kiffin stuff at UT was mamby-pamby but we still got slapped and were ridiculed by the passing troll population. The DB coach under Kiffin did some shakey crap with the airline flights w/Seastrunk's family and we got hit on the nose again....3 years later.

Auburn essentially buys a QB and gets a NC for their efforts.

Every team pushes the envelope at times, but down right cheating? That's likely reserved for a select few. Auburn, Bama, Tressel and let's not forget many people's idol when he was in Knoxville (the gift that keeps on giving) Kiffin.

You seem to be a little late in realizing that the ncaa practices selective enforcement. From what I've read, no one has yet ID'd the picture-taker at the infamous cookout. That's one thing that makes the whole thing smell like a setup to me. Yet, Calipari and his ilk skate merrily along breaking rules on a continuous basis.

The ncaa hates us?

This should be an interesting thread...

As far as the cheating topic, some people are just better at it than others. Eventually though, all cheaters get caught. Do they all get punished? Well that's a different matter.

And as for this statement:
How he could ever get a 5 star black kid to play under the Stars and Bars is a mystery unless $$$ is involved.

Racist IMO :)

Because we are the ones that always seem to get caught. Besides CBJ is doing a pretty decent job at getting players here without cheating. Plus I want character players that want to wear orange and not just anyone that wants money and cars. I would much rather beat the teams that are cheating because it makes it that much more rewarding.

UT athletes get "perks" just like anyone else. I know 100 percent. Every major team "cheats" or breaks the rules. We just haven't had good coaching the last three years.

At least Auburn got a national championship out of cheating. With Kiffin, we sucked before, during, and after, and cheating didn't help at all.

It is amazing, though not surprising, how little integrity this board presents. You all must be making your parents proud. I recall a certain famous player say "I want to be remembered as a good person who just happened to play football." I, for one, am glad my alma mater isn't selling its soul (again).

Well this does bring up an interesting point. We've all heard the phrase "if your not cheating, your not winning". Unfortunately there is some level of truth to that. Many people don't want to hear that. There are a lot of programs across the country that want to win at "all cost"....and that's a fact! The SEC is no exception. Rabid fans bases and prideful "people in power" play a roll in it. I found it odd that when Kiffin and co. were here...our compliance department reported him every time he looked at someone wrong. I mean some of it was really very petty stuff. It was almost as if "certain people" in "positions" didn't want him to succeed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him. Personally I'm glad he's gone. The point is...if people think that the "certain coaches and programs" don't bend the rules to gain a competitive advantage....you're simply wrong. These coaches are also at universities that are willing to "look the other way" if it means staying at the top. Sure, they'll self report a minor violation here and there, but at the end of the day.....major violations??? Doubt it seriously. The fact is, college football is big business (huge business) on a lot of different levels. Personally I love the game, but I don't watch the game through "rose colored" glasses. GO VOLS!!
