ME was doing rankings before rankings were an everyday topic ...(pre-message board).

Max was the best recruiting source around at one time

Two or three years ago he got mentioned all the time but I pulled the name from past memories and wondered why I have not heard it mentioned lately.

I honestly couldn't care less about our ranking. I just care that we get talented players to fill the positions that we need. I realize that guys like Neal and Rogers (if we can land him) are huge gets, but I think I care more about getting Stone and keeping Loften.

He has Nash Nance ranked higher than Tyler Bray. This guy did recruiting service before the internet.

he's far behind on updating, still has Michael Taylor on our list. He does however love Marteze Jackson though, I mean really loves him, like top 25 player in the nation love. So either we reaaaaalllly got a steal there or this guy doesnt knwo what he is talking about.

He also said Stanley will be in the NFL in 2 short years. He has Nance as a Vol, that happened yesterday.

Rivals and Scout have become "slicker" with their sites...but Emfinger has been around forever. Used to get his magazine...before the Rivals/Scout era. He is as good as any of them, they are all subjective. With him showing us at 5, I would love to say he is right...but who knows.

There have been many dispell the use of these rankings, and technically, they are right. A top class doesn't guarantee a single win. But, watching what teams are going for what prospect does show the most coveted recruits. Simple fact, Bama and FLA have had top 5 (or better) classes the last few years, and I think it is pretty obvious what they have reaped from that.

Proclaim the rankings mean nothing all you want, but there is a correlation. If you can take a topflight recruit with good size, speed and skills and coach them up, you will get a superior performer.

Step 1 - get the best athlete at the position
Step 2 - instill higher level performance and teach the proper techniques
Step 3 - prepare for your opponent (tapes/gameplan)
Step 4 - drive execution

All the while, ensuring these kids stay straight and inspire them to not only perform, but be good campus and community citizens.

Big task for coaches.

Watching and tracking recruiting is simply step one in the process....that, obviously, is why it is of such interest to most.

Max has always love the BO. He was once the top guy, didn't keep up with the tech, I guess.

He is based out of Mississippi----IIRC

I thought Texas. Isn't he the guy that put Nick Stephens on our radar? Forrest Davis is another of the old recruiting 'gurus', but................with a Bama slant.

Sorry but that website needs to be more professional if I'm supposed to take it seriously.

Yeah, on his 2010 super recruits database he lists "moble quarterbacks." Did they also not know how to spell in the days before scout and rivals?
