Who is your favorite driver, and how did they become your favorite? I'll start...

I like Carl Edwards, and chose him for several reasons 4 years ago. I used to be a Mark Martin fan, followed him until he started going back and forth with his career. So I chose another Ford driver from the same stable. I also wanted to follow someone that raced in both Series, and someone that seemed to be genuinely nice, but aggressive on the track. so I decided on Cousin Carl. Just looking to hear some stories, and please no bashing on people.

Mark Martin.

When I started watching Nascar I was real young so I went by my favorite paint scheme. Turns out I loved the old #6 Valvoline car and that's who I decided to support then and still support now. Moving to Hendrick Motorsports was the best thing to happen for him.

Wow. Both of the first two stories are a combination of mine. I started pulling for Mark Martin because I really liked that red, white and blue Valvoline car. Then I became a fan of the driver more than the car and sponsor (obviously, since I powered through the Viagra years and all the jokes that came with it). I still pull for Mark mostly, but since his career is winding down I started cheering for Carl Edwards from the same Roush stable. I like Carl because he is a great driver and is great with the fans.

I really don't have a driver yet for when Mark finally hangs it up.

Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr., and I believe everyone knows why. I've been a Bayne fan since middle school, also.

I don't mind Tony Stewart or the two Dale Jr. protege's.

I'm more of a fan of the competiton than I am particular drivers. I will pretty much pull for anyone not named Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, or JPM.

Rather than list favorite drivers, I would prefer to list what I would like to see happen. 1.) Mark Martin win the Sprint Cup, and at least the Daytona 500. 2.) Bobby Labonte and Ken Schrader win one more race. Regan Smith, David Ragan, A J Allmendinger, Marcus Ambrose, Dave Blaney, Casey Mears, Paul Menard, and David Gilliand win a race. I would like to see Juan Pablo win an oval race.

Kyle Busch
A. Because he drives for JGR, which is why I like and still follow Smoke.
B. That boy can drive.
C. A lot of people don't like him.

Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson

I told this on here before but I became a fan of Gordon because my two drivers at the time were Rusty Wallace and Richard Petty. Richard retired and Rusty switched to a Ford (now I wouldn't care but that seemed important when I was 14 back in 1994). I couldn't pull for a Ford so I went with Jeff in his first full year before he ever won a race. When Jimmie joined Hendrick to drive the Lowes car, the angle was more about him being "Jeff's driver" since Jeff has a stake in that car. Since he drove for my favorite driver I also pulled for Jimmie. I prefer Jeff winning over Jimmie between the two but usually pull for the one in contention if one guy isn't.

Kyle Busch, mostly because everyone hates him & I loved when he was being a smart ass to the fans. No matter what anyone wants to say the kid can drive & he is one of the most talented drivers in the series. You can put him & Tony in about anything & they will win.

I also like Bayne b/c he is from Knoxville & he is the hometown kid, he has alot of potential.

Same here, but I wasn't "real young". When MM hangs it up I will quit watching. I was fortunate to see him win twice in person (talladega)

Why? I don't get it. That's like saying when Derek Jeter retires I'll stop watching baseball. Doesn't make sense to me

Fav Driver: Kenseth, Matt

Ford guy.. Needed a new guy after Rusty.

I appreciate his heartless demeanor and driving style.

John Force for NHRA.

Ford guy ...but I was a fan of his when he was driving Oldsmobile's.

Sat next to me during a race in Memphis, we made fun of Cruz Pederegon's hair.

Matt Kenseth!!

Hubby is a Ford fan and a Mark Martin fan. I needed a driver to pull for back in 2001, so he told me about Mark's "apprentice", Matt Kenseth. I started reading about him and following him and have been HOOKED ever since! He's very smart, a great racer, and believe it or not, very funny! I'm a one driver kind of girl and for me it is all about Matt.

Well, except now here comes Ross... lol

Replace him with them and that's why you're a Boston fan? :p

Kyle Busch, because he says what he wants and doesn't care what anybody thinks. Also because he doesn't believe in points racing. He wants to win every single race. Kyle reminds me of another of my all time favorites, Ernie Irvan.

If he wants to win a championship he might start believing in it. It looks like he is doing a better job of that this season.

I don't really have a favorite driver, I have a favorite team - I have been a fan of Hendrick Motorsports since back in the days of Tim Richmond and Geoff Bodine.

Kevin Harvick and Dale Jr.

I started liking NASCAR around the time Jr was winning his Nationwide Series titles and I was already latched onto his dad, so I latched onto Jr before he was full-time cup. I became a Harvick fan because it was about the only way to keep my interest in NASCAR. I honestly only watched two races start to finish in 2001 because I just didn't really have it in me after Dale Sr died. One was the Pepsi 400 and the other was when my dad and I went to the Nationwide Series fall race at Bristol. Watched Harvick drive his way back from two laps down to win in the days before the lucky dog. That's when I knew I was officially a Harvick fan. I was also there the next spring when he picked Biffle up by the firesuit.

Tony Stewart.

I have always been a NASCAR fan but didn't really have a favorite driver untill Stewart came along. I loved his win or else driving style and whenever he was done talking(right or wrong) you knew exactly how he felt. He's not one of these pc guys that sugar coats everything he says and is afraid to say how he feels.

Tony "Smoke" Stewart #14

I grew up a King Richard fan...my dad liked him so, I followed his footsteps. After The King retired I went with #3...after he was killed I began following "Smoke." I grew up in Mountain City, dad was good enough to pull me to Bristol and Wilkesboro in the late 70's and 80's a few times. I joined the USAF in the late 80's and moved away from Big Orange Country but I have been a "turn right" fan all my life. I like Tony cause he drives the wheels off of everything...he is kind of cranky, direct (to the point) I think he is the kind of guy that will say something right to your face rather than say it behind your back...I like that attitude and he takes no BS.

My dream is to one day attend the Daytona 500...hopefully now that I have retired from the military I can make that dream a reality in 2012...
