Why do we need a federal education department?

In the 1970s, 52% of folks had graduated HS.
So, in 50 years we increased the graduation rate to 87%. How many of that extra 35% can't read above a 6th grade level, can't past a 1970's History test or English test, or Science test, have no geography knowledge, or have no idea how the government works-you know Civics?

All we did was constantly lower standards so we could show "improved" numbers. That way admin got raises and more programs for the "betterment of students" are always in need. This gave "educators" more jobs making more money without being stuck in a classroom all day.

I could tell you exactly what would fix education, but no one wants to hear the harsh truth.

We? You heading up the movement? He certainly isn't going to get anywhere in this tiny bubble of a forum. Of course, you're a BIG MAN, because you are Winning, right? šŸ˜‰šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£
I’m big enough. You seem to want to come at me.

What’s your deal. Problem?

No problems here. Responding to your posts. You're hypersensitive and thin skinned to think such a thing. But of course I already knew that with your, "adults are in the room", and, "I am winning schtick". It's funny and you are so stupid you don't know you're teeing it up

So I guess since this post was allowed to stay we can call folks stupid.

Bernie is stupid for coming at me. He should know better.

Lol, the Cuyahoga River fire of 1969 was the literal catalyst for the creation of the EPA and the Clean Water Act, and it took 20 years, and $3.5 billion dollars to bring life back to it.

Why would you try to lie about something to widely known?

The Cuyahoga River cleanup began in 1968 after the City of Cleveland passed a $100 million dollar bond. Yeah the 1969 fire was used as a rallying cry for the establishment of the EPA and the clean water act but by the time the EPA was established in 1972 the cleanup was all but complete and the EPA had nothing to do with it.

If you want I can post a link for you to show you just how wrong you are.

None of you have been able to show how the existence of the DoE is negatively impacting the state of Tennessee's ability to successfully educate children.

So from that perspective, it's moot.
Wait, so your argument for sustaining a federal bureaucracy to the tune of $250B a year is that it has ā€œno impactā€ on State schools?

And you'll still be short $20-25 billion.

So which state services are you cutting, or which state taxes are you raising?
My understanding is that link is total receipts spent in the state of tennessee. Not just direct federal funding. Any military bases, federal offices, post office, etc all fall under that.

So even if the feds no longer gave any money to the State government of tennessee, they would still be spending some amount of money that would show up in that list.

How many of you can ace this 1912 8th grade test? How many college kids could pass it? BTW, no phones or computers allowed.

I feel like I would get about an 80 on it. There are some things I would need more context on, like how big is a "cord" of wood? I also chuckled because "endeavor" was misspelled in the spelling portion. I would have completely failed the grammar section, but I pretty much failed the modern version too when i was taught it.

some of the questions were also very subjective, "Why do we study Physiology?" uhmm, because its in the Syllabus teacher lady.

That money should stay in the states.
We need the DOE so that the democrats will have means to keep stealing tax payer money. They can't get by on their 6 figure salary and their insider trading is becoming a HOT issue. You don't want a bunch of homeless democrat politicians pan handling in the streets of DC.
