Why Do We Contiually Recruit Players Then Switch Them To New Places

Here's a crazy thought . . .. Maybe when guys go from high school to a closely monitored strength and conditioning program they tend to add size and strength which allows them to play different positions.

I agree with you mostly GA, but why not polish their skills at the positions they come in at unless the are an athlete?? That's one reason we don't have alot of natural defensive line talent is because we convert O-Line and LB's to D-line.

Listen to Ohio Vol...he's one of the more football intelligent people on here.

Moreover, taking a great athlete from HS to college, putting into a long term position to excel, all the while their bodies are undergoing radical change is an inexact science, to say the least.

It's also selective amnesia to forget all of the switches that panned out beautifully...

Charles Mcrae
Jason Laymen
Kevin Mays
Spencer Riley
Fred Weary
Terry Mcdaniel (WR to CB)
Rashad Baker (WR to FS)
Dominique Stevenson (RB to LB)

Heck, they've been doing this for years with success.

Don't forget Donte' Stallworth from third-string tight end to wide receiver.

Or John Henderson from offensive guard to defensive tackle

Or Jason Witten from defensive end to tight end

John Henderson was a DT in high school too and a damn good one to boot.
