Why do we beat UF?

Butch gone out-trick them with his mind. We gone whip dey azz

I doubt we see much trickery. If we do that's a bad sign and means our offense is stalling.

We win this game because Hurd rushes for at least 100 yards, combined with another 100 from Kamara, Dobbs an everyone else.

One thing that I see as a positive for this weekend. Our last game was nothing but a glorified scrimmage, but we did work on some of the issues that plagued us against OU.

First, they worked very heavily on the passing game until the game was completely out of hand. One thing that is apparent, Josh Dobbs still shows a lot of the inconsistency with his passes that kept him off the field last year. He missed several open receivers, but hopefully those were teaching points this week.

Second; during the fourth quarter that everyone is complaining about. All of the inside run plays were boring. They actually had a reasonable YPC. The main thing they worked on was clock management. On almost every offensive play in the fourth quarter, the ball was snapped with between 5-10 seconds on the play clock. Maybe they now understand that you can't run out the clock with a hurry up offense.

Now we will see this weekend if the practice last Saturday translates to the game in the Swamp.

special teams will play a huge part. field position for both teams could be huge since Florida' defense is good and also their offense isn't great. We make it so they have to drive, while we have short fields and I like our chances. Also, obviously have to take care of the ball, make freaking tackles (esp in space), force TOs. make a FG is we have to settle for one

You know when you're in Vegas, and the roulette tables have those screens that show what numbers/colors have hit? It can't be red 11 times! No way!! ALL IN!!!

There shouldn't be a question mark in the title. You didn't really ask a question. You made a statement.

That is all.

This is a year that we beat Florida or we lose to Kentucky. In my opinion, with how Florida struggled to beat East Carolina (who got dog whipped by Navy) is more of an indication that Florida is bad than it is that Kentucky is good. It's just too soon still to know for certain.

But odds are in our favor for so many reasons:

1) 11 years without a win is unlikely.
2) Florida is under a new coaching system.
3) Their QB is not that good.
4) Their QB took a pounding last week and is probably a little banged up.
5) Their backup QB is a Vandy transfer who has no real experience playing under their system. I know...fear the back up, but get real.
6) Bad press this week for UF with distracting suspensions and twitter drama.
7) We have a hungry team. More so than Florida, whose looking ahead as evidenced by their coach talking about their upcoming SEC schedule. We are more hungry than ever thanks to OU.
8) We have positive things happening...players back, Lane kiffin rumors to take our minds off the stress of this week even if for just an hour.
9) We are a better team than last year, while Florida is worse off after losing most of their offensive line from last year.
10) Our coaches have something to prove; theirs gets a pass.
11) We have been holding back in my opinion and have some special game planning in place.

:salute:

It's going to be 10 years of frustration being let loose. I think Florida is over confident and are going to be smacked down early and often. Look for a repeat of the Tax Slayer Bowl. We win big. Move to 20 in the polls.

'Enjoyed this thread, Army. Being a perennial sunshine pumper, naturally I believe our Vols will win every game before it's played, but this one is scary and tradition makes it more-so than any other game...even the dastardly bammers. I think our running production and a (hopefully) improved LB group with Kirkland's development and this promising DL with O'Brien back and the youngsters also somewhat matured (Shy, Phillips and hopefully K-Mac), we'll outlast the gators by game's end. I agree, also, that they're possibly overconfident. I'm hoping the learning curves of our coaches and players have ascended to where effective game-time adjustments will out X & O McElwain's bunch. The future's undeniably bright, but to get the sunshine pumping back in, our guys just gotta' drain the swamp Saturday!

If this was Team A vs. Team B everything the OP says makes perfect sense. But this isn't Team A vs. Team B is it?

Well in my opinion our offense is better than their offense but their defense is better (deeper) than ours especially with CM out.

I think we win or lose based on the way we execute on special teams. This will be a field position game.

Of course finishing the 4th quarter will be a key as well. We cannot sit on a lead at the swamp and if we do plan to do that, for gods sake, please snap the ball with 2-3 seconds on the play clock and not 23-25 seconds.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Florida is a bad team. That's why we should win. Keep in mind if Florida beats us it's technically an upset.

But of course..... 4-8 Florida was bad too, and they stomped us.

How would it be an upset. Aren't both of us unranked?

i know yall dont wanna hear it but this is the most talented defense since 08 imo

there isnt really a weakness

secondary - as good as any in the country

lb's - not deep but we got 2 pretty damn good ones in morrison and davis

dl - same as secondary

alright enough talk for now ill save the rest for sat night

That's just being a homer, IMO.

i know basically every vol fan thinks will grier is a complete scrub but i actually expect him to have a pretty damn good game

sounds like you guys are counting on true freshmen dl's to come up big

your mlb isnt very good and you have some questionable db's back there too

You seem to be pretty confident in that patch with oline Florida has...

Pretty safe to say jumper won't start Kirkland and maybin have been working together all week. It's not like Florida has a bunch of world class wr considering Kentucky did very well against them and they're even worse off then we are.

Agree with all of this 100%

31-10 Vols. Berry runs one back for 6...
