why do the lady vols have blue in jerseys

maybe they added it to distinguish that they are girls and the baby blue seperates them from the guys. :shrugs:

It's a fashion statement---recommended by some LA designers to give the program a new look to attract recruits from California, New York and London.

Limited budget is an understatement.

When Pat Summitt became coach, she actually had to wash the team uniforms herself.

Pat doesn't have to wash uniforms anymore. :good!:

pretty crazy to think about. wonder wut she would have done if back then u told her that she would win all them nc's that she has today.

I think one of the main reasons for the added color is that the Women's athletic department wanted to establish that the two departments were seperate. So, its the Lady Vols with the colors orange, white, and baby blue.

And, I like the color combination.

In either 1987 or 1988, the football Vols played a few games where their home orange jerseys were trimmed in baby blue around the numerals. Anybody got a pic or remember this?

I remember they trimmed them in gray for a bit. I can't remember what year. I was going to all the games back in 87-88, and I don't remember baby blue trim. I could be wrong.
