I'm with you on this one I only pull for Tennessee all the other SEC teams can lose. Don't pull for them in bowl games either.

Well I'm glad I'm from the land of Dixie, old times here are not forgotten, look ahead, look ahead, look ahead to the success of the SEC. GO VOLS ---- GO SEC !!!!!

By that point, your win doesn't help Bama. So no, I would not pull for UT. But against BYU? Yes, I'd rather UT win.

??? I do not WANT UT to lose to anyone. UT first, SEC second. Also, in the 90's UT and UF were dominant, period. But, other teams, who fell hard to the Vols and Gators, managed 7-5, 8-4, 9-3, and 10-2 records. Then went to bowl games and woodshedded some poor ACC, Big 10 or PAC 10 team. That is where we were just three years ago, thanks to Josh Dobbs and company. Then Botch's recruiting and lack of depth/talent, in the trenches,caught up with him.
In the 90's, the SEC was still the best overall conference. Other conferences won titles. The SEC beat themselves up. Bama, Florida, Auburn and LSU winning so many titles, in the 2000's and more recently, have given the appearance of the SEC being more dominant. Truth is....we are far less balanced than before. The SEC got even more top heavy, with UT's fall from grace. All of those recruits that we used to get, are going to Bama, LSU, UGA, etc. Sure, UK and Vandy improved. But UT and Arkansas have fallen apart. USC and Missouri remain steady. Auburn is hit or miss. A&M can beat anyone on a given day. Ole Miss is steady, mid-pack, and Miss State is a steady, upper mid-pack. LSU is teetering on becoming great, or falling apart. Meanwhile, UGA, Bama and UF are way ahead of the pack. Sorry, rambling.

If you truly want what's best for the conference, were you pulling for LSU to win the SEC title game against us in 2007? If we had won it would have knocked an SEC team out of the BCS title game.

And also, yes I know how obnoxious Ohio St fans are but they hate Bama just as much I do and I love it. Still have great celebrating with them after their Sugar Bowl win over them and laughing at Bama fans.

Play along with this scenario.
UT goes 12-1, loses to Bama, but beats Bama, and wins the SEC title. But, Bama finished 9-4, with losses to Auburn, UT, and UF, and someone.
Michigan goes 12-1, with a loss to a 10-2 Wisconsin, but beats a 11-2 Ohio State, to win the title.
Clemson goes 12-1, with a loss to a 10-2 FSU, but wins the ACC title.
Oklahoma goes 12-1, with a loss to a 10-2 Texas, but wins the Big 12 title, over an 11-2 Okla State.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame goes 11-1, losing only to Clemson.

Who is getting into the Playoffs? UT is left out
Conference strength and Strength of Schedule matters....
Now, if Bama finished 12-1 or 11-2, we are talking a different scenario. But media darling, like USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, etc, will always blow things up.

I call this stuff jealousy. The only cure is for the UT to beat the sheep out of other SEC teams. Personally, I don't hate any of them, but I love seeing the Vols curb stomping them.

You can sit with those old dudes and yell Roll Tide with your toilet paper rolls and Tide boxes, I'm not cheering for Bama or UGA under any circumstances and if it hurts us so be it.

The most you will get from me is I dont care if Auburn and LSU win their ooc games or not because they hate Bama like you are supposed to.

I am never happy to lose a home grown son to anyone. Especially an opponent in the East. But, I am glad he kept it in conference. It'll feel that much better, when we beat his ass, in the future.
Picture this, Cade's senior year. He's first team all-American. It's 4th and 7, on a crucial drive, late, to win the game. UGA is one first down away from FG range. The ball is snapped, and our DE beats Mays, sacks The QB, causes a fumble, and a UT LB picks it up and rumbles into the End Zone.
Nice, huh? It can happen.

We arent in UGA or Bama's stratosphere talent wise and wont come close to beating UGA during Cade's time there.

Xactly. Your heart has to be ice cold to root for The Ohio State U, Michigan, Penn St, Notre Dame, FSU or any of the other sports media darlings versus any SEC team . The rest of the country and the sports media which seems to be primarily alumni of non-SEC teams, although that does seem to changing a little, and they relish seeing SEC teams lose against non-conference teams. Also a bonus in the hate category, the yankees and non-southerners who have moved their miserable selves to the Nashville area are a blight on the South as a whole

Finally someone who gets it.....it's all about strength of schedule, if all the SEC teams got curb stomped as someone said by D2 teams then the conference and UT would look weak, therefore an undefeated or 1 loss season probably does not get you in the playoff.....however with the conference beating teams as it is that is how you get two teams in.
The strength of the conference is what use to annoy me in the 90's when FSU got so much love but played nobody in the weak ACC and the SEC beat each other up and dominated other conferences in bowls

The only teams I've seen the media slobbering over for the last 4 or 5 years are UGA, Alabama, and Clemson

I live right in the middle of Big 10 country. I always pull for an SEC team to beat any of them. And I hope UGA beats the snot out of ND this year. I hate ND.

No need to throw a tantrum, dude. You know that no one here wants Tennessee to lose a game because of conference loyalty. That's just silly. And the SEC was the best conference long before 2007, including during the '90s.

All of us want the Vols to win. I think the difference of opinion here is that some of us want to know that we are the best and feel like the wins are more meaningful when they come against top competition. And some of us just want wins, even if it means we have to lower the level of our competition to get them.
