Why do some of our fans love the SEC so much?

I hope every other SEC team loses every game they play.

There is no way, I mean no way. I am ever cheering Bama, UGA, or UF in any non conference game.

I hate every SEC East and Bama team with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns and only tolerate schools like LDU and Auburn because they hate Bama too.

I've never had conference pride but the SEC being the best conference top to bottom is just facts. If we were in any other conference we'd always go bowling.
UGA has taken over my hate for Bama by the slightest of margins.

UGA, Bama, are tops on the hate list and in that order.

My hate for the Gators is unrivaled. I dislike UGA. I can do without Bama but I absolutely loathe Florida.

Hate all 3 of them... with a passion.

As much as I hate Bama, UGA, and UF, I hate even more the pompous media elite slobbing all over teams such as Ohio State and Michigan....

It's the same reason I cant stand Duke in basketball
Still cheer for OSU, Michigan, and Duke when they play SEC teams.

Remember celebrating with Ohio St fans when they beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl. Man that was great.

It's simple. The better the SEC fairs against out of conference opponents, the better it looks, on us, if we beat them. If Bama loses to SW Missouri St and ETSU, it takes alot of the fun out of winning. I honestly used to love watching these SEC teams, that we destroyed, in the regular season, go to bowl games, and just woodshed Big 10 teams!! It just adds points to your argument of how good your team really is. For instance, we beat Bama. Then Bama rolls over Michigan, in a bowl game. My friend, the Michigan fan, has no leg to stand on. Of course, beating Michigan, head to head, was just the best.

I’m a Vol fan. What the other teams do matters very little to me one way or the other. Any other team could go on a losing streak and I won’t care or call it off. It’s just not about other teams.

I figure the other teams want to win, the fans of the other teams want their team to win, who really cares about the rest?

The bottom line is if the Vols are winning. Other than if a win can help the Vols, I guess I would just assume they all lost just so their fans would be sad.

Part of it is most media outlet wants the SEC to lose and teams like USC,UCLA, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State and etc be far above them. The fact is none of those teams are as good as half or more of the SEC.

Another reason why some of us older fans pull for the SEC is because of the traveling days of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Huge groups traveled to away games especially SEC games. We got to know people and tailgated with several fans from other teams. Sure we gave each other heck and had a good time but that just made the game and day better.

If anyone on here was at the 90 Sugar Bowl we had a huge tailgate before the game. We invited Virginia fans and several of them came to eat and talk. We joked when we got in the stadium because Tennessee our numbered Virginia like 30 to 1. We said every Virginia fan here tonight was at our tailgate.
