Why do I get the feeling that there isn't a lot of interest in the OC position?

1. Fulmer is considering calling his own plays

2. We lost a candidate to a mediocre Cal program

3. No news coverage of any exciting candidates who are interviewing or expressing interest

Has the program slipped into such oblivion that we're no longer on the short list for the most desirable candidates?

There's plenty of interest. The job has really only been open for about 2-2 1/2 weeks and the season just ended for a lot of guys. I wouldn't misconstrue false reports from sports hacks who are just dying to look like insiders as a lack of interest.

do you have any legitimate proof of this alleged interest or are you just speculating?

It's pure speculation . . . but I'm just using common sense. It's a high profile coordinator job at a BCS school. There are people who want the job.

I do think that position coaches and coordinators want to work for someone they will learn from and be mentored. I'm not sure Fulmer has as much respect, as other successful college coaches have, i.e. Spurrier, Stoops, Carroll, etc; in this respect.

Most coaches, who have coached as long as Fulmer, have coaches who have branched off and became coordinators, head coaches, etc, at other schools. Fulmer doesn't really have that. Most of Fulmer's past assistants haven't been that successful at other schools, except for Cutcliffe. Maybe Trooper will do something at OSU.

The only people offered even by reports are making the same money or more. Brown is making more where he is. Spence got a raise. Clemson is not UT but it is a big time program. Spence most likely wants to be HC. The other guys were not offered. Cignetti interviewed as did Loeffler. UT may or may not have contacted Gus or Hatcher or others we do not know. NFL coaches can not speak to other schools until there season is over without special permission. I want the OC real bad but we are certainly getting interest it is just a matter of Fulmer liking the guy and this not being a lateral or pay decrease.

that's the thing -- those guys who were talked to/offered are not exactly uber-famous/desirable; they're just good coaches from decent programs. and we can't even seem to land those. i feel very pessimistic about being able to take away the most talented and sought-after assistants from top programs given the way things have gone thus far. what i see is that we're losing our top talent assistants to other programs and not replacing them with people of comparable or higher caliber. this concerns me.

Tubberville found a OC within 48 hours.

Luke and Roper were there because they are cut's guys they are not that good. Troop wanted to be OC and we said u are not good enough for us not the other way around. Get ready for the splash hire.

And really, Fulmer can't take credit for him. technically, he is part of the Johnny Majors lineage.
