Why Do Citizens Need Assault Weapons?

Think about what happened Friday, or at the mall, or at the movie theater... if the shooter has ten bullets, and then has to pause to reload....or to switch to a seperate gun...there are less chances that they are going to kill huge numbers of people. You might kill 3-4, and then when you fumble around to get another weapon, some brave person will tackle you.

The guys that wrote the constitution never dreamed that citizens would be able to legally fire 300 individually chambered bullets in 10 minutes. It is time to rewrite that law.

We will let you have a street legal car. We will not let you drive an assalt tank down the interstate.

10 round clip would seem to be about the max needed. Being able to pop out 10 bullets in ten seconds might be borderline ok. But no more than than.
They also never dreamed that people would be using publicly owned computers located in libraries to watch videos of people engaged in every concievable form of carnal knowledge. Is it time to rethink that whole first amendment thingy as well?

Yeah, we going have to restrict that to bb guns or something. Too many nuts with too easy of access to too deadly of arsensal of guns is leading to too many dead people. Why do you need cannons for target practice? Slow loading, low calibor stuff will make holes in paper targets.

It seems that we need to move more toward muzzle loaders...I'm being over simple, but this is going to get worse before it gets better. Misery loves company. Do you know how many losers are out there? They have zero to live for. So try to injure as many other randon people as possible before finishing off your own miserable life.

Is it easier to get rid of the crazy people or the guns?

Try having a muzzle loader when the zombies come. That won't end well.

300 rounds in 10 minutes? What is the significance of that metric? And who says there's anything wrong with that capability?

I just picked a number...the kid on Friday...shot 26 people with an average of ten bullets in each person....so 300 bullets in ten minutes. Just a rough ballpark. You can pick your own number. There has to be some line where it is overkill for hunting, protesting your house, or target shooting.

So I can drive a regular tank then?

In all these killings in the United States, I have yet to hear of a single law abiding citizen shooting back at the nuts.

Because they do it in states that have strict gun laws and average Joe's can't tote a gun on em. Therefore they have nothing to shoot but their finger and unless your the Cisco kid that ain't gonna get you far.

But I'm not going to do that, and neither is anybody with my gun.

I'm plinking targets at the range. Why shouldn't I be able to fire off 30 rounds as fast as I want?

So you cap the rate of fire? In a semi-automatic hunting rifle, the point is that you can fire quick follow-up shots before the animal gets away or to kill it quickly. Even a hunting rifle is capable of firing that many shots over a span of 10 minutes.

Because as of last Friday, too many people are dying.

They also never had any threats with potential of assault arm capabilities.

uh... check the vtech shooting. iirc, homie had stock 10 rd. magazines and he killed more than 3-4 people before killing himself.

Do people not realize the simplicity of how a clip works? I could probably spend a couple of hours in my garage with some plastic and springs and make a 50 round clip if I really wanted to.

If that brave person has a carry permit, they could remedy the situation before 3-4 people are killed. Tackling not needed.

Right. They could be banned, and in this case, criminals truly would be the only ones in possession of such modified magazines

You absolutely do not know that. You can presume and you can speculate, but you cannot state as a fact that the founders did not think repeating firearms were not a possibility.

Moreover, it does not matter. One thing that is present in many of the documents written by many of the Founding Fathers is the idea that subjects ought to be citizens and that citizens ought to be able to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. One cannot do so without relevant equality in firepower.

Not only ought citizens be allowed to purchase and possess assault rifles, they ought to be allowed to purchase and possess attack helicopters, tanks, jets, etc.

I am pretty positive that I could squeeze off 300 rounds in 10 minutes with an M-4 set only to semi (not to burst). Hell, I might be able to do so with an M9.

Ok, well what about this then? A new rule starting on Jan 1, 2013....

In the big game of life, you can legally kill one person within your lifetime. No questions asked.

Does that work for everyone?
