Why did the early recruit signing period move up to December

February has always been the official national signing day. This is the 1st year ever the NCAA has allowed an early signing period. Early signing is December, official signing day is February.

To stop hassling the kids...

It’s been terrible from the college standpoint.

Watch for it to be moved to Post Natty

What he is trying to say is it DIDNT move up. February was and still is the official signing day. The early signing period was created this year and placed in dec. It allows recruits that want to sign early the ability to do so.

Umm... not sure if OP is serious.

There are still two signing periods... Feb is still national signing day and that signing period ends in april, like in years past. I think they did it more so early enrollees can get financial aid sooner. Also it binds them to their commitment, so if say a guy wants to confirm his commitment but still take a couple visits he can do that as well, though I'm not sure why any college would waste an OV on them.

Basically it's for early enrollees.

It also gets coaches off kids backs from Dec to Feb since they've also signed their LOI. Again, has nothing to do with fans... its about kids getting financial aid and letting them have more control without getting harassed by prospective coaches

as mentioned, it is an addition, so now there are two signing periods.

It's better for pretty much everybody (minus when you're trying to get a new head coach), as it lets players sign and "know" their spot is there at the school, and also helps schools/coaches have people "locked" in so they can relax on recruiting them as much in the days to signing day.

Also, helpful in regards to EEs

Come on, man, he just misread. He could easily ask you the same since you came here instead of only googling the answer...

The real question is why is Adidas "III" better now that we have Nike.Boost is the best smh Nike hates us.
grass is always greener... people spend too much time worrying about the joneses instead of focusing on self.

Read an article where a top recruit, who had already committed publicly and said he was no longer taking official visits, was receiving over 100 texts a day from other school’s coaches trying to flip him. That’s almost stalking level bad. Signing this LOI will get these coaches to back off and let these kids enjoy their last few months of high school.
