Why did everyone give up on B.J. Coleman after playing in part of a game?

I thought he looked ok considering... He did look a little behind on all of his passes, but couldn't the lack of practice with first team contribute to that?

From what I read before the season started the only reason Stephens became second string was because he was older than BJ and Fulmer couldn't make up his mind who he wanted to be second string.. When Crompton was finally pulled the reason we saw Stephens first was because he was getting all the 2nd team snaps in practice just because he was older

my fault buddy i'll try and quit its just a REALLY REALLY bad habbit

pretty time consuming habit, haha... also, crompton (not stephens) is our more TALENTED QB... unfortunately talent can result in nothing but unwarranted hype if not developed....oops

just think he has the quickest release, strong arm.... i like stephens more, and think that he is a better qb, but in regards to raw talent its probably crompton.... that is the only compliment you will hear me give him though - if its even a compliment.

Strong Arm?!?! 90% of his passes fell 5 yards short of recievers.....

I haven't given up on any of our QB's yet, although I don't think Stephens will end up being the best out of what we have on campus. Good QB coaching and development, putting them in the right system, and getting good production out of your offensive line go a looong way towards making a QB look good. Not to mention having a running game that can be described as "dangerous".

He's pretty raw at QB and the new system that Lane is bringing in is not going to help him. It will be a while before he will contribute IMO. (If he does at all) Nick Stephens is probably our most talented QB right now.

The fact that you may be right makes me want to cry.:cray::cray::cray:

I honestly do not think Nick Stephens is our best quarterback. He has a strong arm, but lacks in too many other areas.

His completion percentage was higher than Stephens. But I think Coleman is a better prospect than Stephens too. I think Stephens is our weakest QB.

I hope we see a better QB next year, whether that's someone we've already seen, someone currently on the bench, or a newbie. What we saw this year isn't good enough from any of the three. I like BJ, and I liked Stephens-don't get me wrong. But somebody has to step it up.

I don't think our starting QB for next year is enrolled at UT yet.

That is an accuracy issue and not an arm strength issue. You really think when the ball fell short of the WR it was because Crompton lacked the ability to throw it the full distance to the WR?

Strong arm in a QB is like having a strong arm as a boxer: Worthless if you can't hit your target.

From what I can tell, Coleman probably has the best chance out of our current 3 QBs followed by Stephens. Kiffin values a smart kid that can make reads, and we simply haven't seen enough out of Coleman in that regard to make that decision.

I haven't given up on him, not in the least.

Better question. Why so much hype/faith in Coleman? Crompton is the most talented in the group but all of them looked bad this year.

Maybe crompton will enter the draft this year.... Then that would guarantee us that he wont be our quaterback next year.
