Plenty about their cars I do not like, but my point was about the managing of their company. Organized labor is what does GM in to a large degree. While laws restrict them from just tossing this nuissance aside, my bet is that management has been far too accomodating to them over the years and could have handled things much more differrently.

Not when they can make a killing on SUV's and Big Trucks. There was a market for that, but now gas prices have all but shut it down. People want MPG now and they want their space. It's going to be difficult, but it has to be done. The Japanese and other car manufactures found this out a lot sooner than GM or Ford which leads me to believe that both companies need to fire their WHOLE R&D and Marketing departments and start over.

I'm thinking this is how Datsun finally got market share in the US. US manufacturers were pumping out led-sleds and price of gas went up. Datsun provided a small car that was fuel friendly and people bought them like hot cakes.
