Why cant we, TENNESSEE, land any of these top recruits?!

I think with better coaching Janzen could of been as good. It's actually is a smelly reason why he gets cut from everywhere. EB is over romanticized on here because we sucked when we had him. I don't use draft results to judge players for college because its situational where you get picked. Not every team is the packers and goes best player available. Ponder was picked twelfth overall.

# of first round picks is a cute indicator of a program, but it can be woefully inaccurate to.

Janzen was good but no where near Berry IMO. He was a 170lb safety that maybe ran a 4.55, he just wasn't as gifted. And if Janzen was as good he would be playing, there are plenty of examples to prove that smoking pot won't stop u from playing in the nfl (if you're good enough). And I disagree that he is overly romanticized but that's a matter of opinion as well. I do agree with the rest of your post.

We already have 3 players for 2015 that are in the Rivals 250 from Georgia and Florida. Not sure what you are speaking of.

I don't remember Janzen being either 170 or ran a 4.55. I swore he was 200 and ran a 4.4. You can't play if you fail drug tests over and over. This isnt the NBA. I think most players in general are over romanticized. It's my opinion, but I could argue it. I also forgot to say that the NFL had a lot of bad stigma over drafting players at certain spots. A safety in the top 5 was one of them. I think we will see it more often from now-on. Like guards and TE's being drafted in the first round.

I was a bit off on his weight (weighed in. At 188 at his pro day but never played at nearly that weight while at UT despite what he was listed as) and you can look up his 40 times from his pro day yourself if you don't believe me. And again we'll have to agree to disagree about nfl players and smoking. Know of a couple guys on the titans who smoke all year long but I won't go there. They also have a little bird tell them b4 they get tested and there are ways to pass even when you're dirty (although it's not very pleasant). But you're right in that it definitely helps when you're an established player which Janzen was not so that does go into him not being in the league now. I've derailed this stupid thread enough tho and really need to get back to work lol.

AGAAAAAAAAAAIN PEEEEEEEEOPLE......I didn't say this class wasn't awesome or that Jones wasn't killing it with top-notch recruits!!!! I SAAAAAAAAID that I just wished some of these PROGRAM CHANGING recruits would start looking more at Tennessee!! Another example is Derrick Green...he chose scUM over TN...just another slap in the face! IM GREEDY AND WANT THE KHEMDICHES, FOURNETTES, PEPPERS, DE'SHAWN HANDS, , YELDONS, ETC.

So you don't consider Hurd or Malone (both 5 stars) to be on the same level as said "program changing recruits"? Do you expect us to get them all or something? Lol. Give Jones a couple years to build and prove himself and we may get MORE of these program changers. This is his first full year to recruit guys and look how much he's knocking it out of the park. I only expect it to get better with more time for him to build relationships and establish himself. I don't see how much more you could expect from him at this point, I mean we are killing it in recruiting. He's out recruiting just about everyone and he just got here and we had a losing season on top of that. Patience my friend.

Of course I think they are program changing recruits, and am very proud to have them. This class is definitely the one that is going to turn our program around, no doubt!! Im excited as hell about this upcoming year...think we finally got the players that GET IT! Ive already admitted that I need to learn more patience...Im spoiled what can I say lol

No one is saying they don't want those types of recruits. It's just those type of recruits are rare unless you're a program like Bama that has won routinely. Hell that many elite recruits didn't line up for Bama when Saban first got there, it took a little time for him to get things rolling.

The thread just came off a little disrespectful to the recruits in the current class.

Let me introduce you to a couple of guys, I don't know if you have met them or not, there names are Josh Malone, Jalen Hurd, Dillon Bates, Von Pearson, Dontavious Blair, Todd Kelley, Vic Wharton, You should look into it sometime. Oh yea, there may be a few underrated players for next year, I heard Preston Williams and Cecil Cherry may be some real sleepers!!!!

First of all, I would never go out of my way to disrespect a highly touted recruit that we reeled in! They chose UT over a lot of others, and am grateful we have them!

I don't need anybody to tell me our recruiting class, I can name them all without even looking, so quit patting yourself on the back by naming 10 of them lol Yes, Cherry and Preston Williams are the TYPES OF RECRUITS IM REFERRING TO HERE! Those are 2 top 10 recruits for 2015...maybe I will get what I want next year!

How do you know the "program changing" recruits aren't already committed to UT? There's no telling if some of the ones you listed will ever amount to squat at their respective schools until they actually arrive and suit up.
