Guys, we all of course know the obvious reason..the last 5 tempestuous years! But, even with that said, we are still THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS! We are a top 10 program of all time with a ton of tradition. Yes, the Kiffin and Dooley expeiments are a big part of our demise. But, since CBJ has arrived and has turned things around recruiting wise, we STILL are not able to land a lot of these top blue-chip recruits! Look at Devonte Lambert for example. Now that is a recruit we DESPERATELY needed! We actually pulled him in only for him to break our hearts and bolt for Auburn! Its almost as if you knew it was coming...because Tennessee doesn't usually pull in those coveted recruits. Its almost as if Devonte said "Whooah...Im going to TN....wait a minute...what am I doing?!" Its like he realized he was almost too good to play for TN and went to a program that reels in big-time recruits.

Look at Carl Lawson from last year. You knew deep down that a recruit of that caliber was going to spurn us!! Bo Scarborough....here's another big-time stud recruit CONSIDERING us, but probably wont come here. The Speedy Noils, Fournettes, Tony Browns, Damien Mamas, Adoree Jacksons, Jabril Peppers, David Cornwells, etc.....WHY CANT WE LAND ANY OF THESE guys?!

Yes, we have landed top recruits like Malone, Hurd, Helm in this class, but it still seems as if the top 30 recruits are waaaay out of our league and it bothers me!! Ole Miss, Clemson, ND, Auburn, etc....what do these programs have that we don't? Yes, I know we have struggled and have had coaching and roster attrition, but we are still Tennessee and should be able sway one of these types of recruits. Devonte Lambert was one of those recruits. Its just frustrating seeing all of these mediocre programs reeling in all these program changing recruits while we land just solid recruits!

Ill say this....my mindset will change if we land Adoree Jackson or/and Darrell Scott. That would prove me wrong and I hope to god it happens!

you mention 2 top-30 commits and then claim they're out of our league. How does that make any sense?

The answer is the same one voiced here on VN for several years. Until we win consistently and go to "good" bowls, the elite recruits will continue to gravitate towards those other programs. We have great facilities, coaching staff, and fan base, but that will only get the program so far. We just need to get our roster back to SEC-level depth and start winning consistently. 2014 has begun that process. You will see even more momentum in 2015, but I think 2016 will bring more of those elite recruits to the Vols.

This is the best class since the 07 class, by far! We are bringing in a lot of studs, I know that and am very proud! I guess all Im saying is that we seem to never be in it for a recruit that Ole Miss got last year. Yeah, yeah, I know the money factor with Ole Miss and Auburn lol But, hell, if that POS school can bring in the number one recruit in the entire nation, why cant we?!
