Why cant we put it all together

We have years where the offense is dominant but the defense is just so so, and we have years the defense is dominating, but the offense is so so.
What does it take to put the whole package together?
Well, UGA has done it by having a top-2 recruiting class for multiple consecutive cycles, including having the top class more than once in that span.
Winning is hard.
Tennessee is basically needing to go from being near the bottom of the SEC, to being the top program in the country, just to win this league. 5 years in and we're definitely getting there. We've all gotta keep the fight and not start complaining. GoVols 🍊

We're gonna have the chance in Tuscaloosa. If we can't go on the road and beat a ranked team, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs

Might be wrong, but I read somewhere that UT just "thuds" in practice, but UGA has real tackling in practice. Guess it's easier to do when you've got their kind of roster, but they were a much, much better tackling team.
Worked under a coach years ago that said...'If you don't hit and tackle in practice you won't hit and tackle in games.' I still believe him.

I also think the 2024 Defense was overrated to a degree. It got shredded by Georgia and Ohio State. We played a lot of teams that were breaking in new QBs or had bad QB play in 2024. I still think it was a good defense, but it wasn't great enough.

I think the DL was very good and got really good pressure against most teams. But when we played more elite talent, those OLs blocked the DL a little better and exposed the back end more.

Feels like my golf game. If I'm driving and hitting the fairways, I cannot putt worth a darn. If my drives all end up in the weeds, I'm chipping well or one putting. It never lines up, lol.

You aren't wrong, btw. National stats under Heupel:

Scoring Offense ranking: 7, 1, 35, 12 (trending away)
Scoring Defense ranking: 90, 36, 22, 7 (trending up)

Through three games (still very early), offense is ranked #6 and defense is ranked #105.

And all the talking heads (SP+) had Tennessee's defense at #4 and the "questionable" offense was #35. Go figure?

The Georgia game this year was a lot like the Bama game in 2022…there’s a difference between putting it all together and going undefeated…if the kicker makes that kick or Stockton doesn’t make a perfect throw none of this stuff would be discussed

Settle down Agnes. We were literally missing/ playing young players at 4 positions on the field that are historically difficult positions for young players to make an impact. You probably thought we were going to win 7-8 games this year, this offseason. This was always going to be a rebuilding year and they played WAY better than any of us expected. Settle down
