I know I will get pinged for starting a thread for whining, but man, I just feel so defeated. I don't care so much about the loss to Florida, because honestly, it was always going to be hard to take a bunch of young guys in to the swamp and win.

But to lose Hunter for the year is just hard to take. As a fan it is hard, but I really feel bad for him and the other players. Especially Rogers and Bray. If I feel this bad, I cannot imagine how they must feel.

I can keep things in perspective and I realize that there are more important things in life than sports. But in the context of our team, it has been a really rough few years. It just seems like for every step forward we make, we have to take 2 steps back.

I cannot remember the last time I felt like we really had any momentum. Our fan base seems cynical and fractured. We have people on here talking about what coach we should hire next for goodness sake. We didn't get here overnight, and I know it will take time, but I really wish we could have something good happen for us instead of having everything be a struggle.

I apologize again for the whining.

Your not alone bud. Last week was so exciting and this has really been a depressing result. It's been a long hard Half decade to be a vol fan. I tought we were turning a corner. Oh well.

No, I am completely with you my man.

As am I. But I've always said, even though we have lost our ways and have been losing alot of games the past several seasons, when we finally do turn the corner it will make the victories that much sweeter. We will rally together and be on top of the world. I don't know when this will happen but I promise you, it is just a matter of when not if.
Hang in there guys, and GBO

I'm in the exact same place. It has been a string of heartbreaks and disappointments for the last several seasons, and though I will always be proud to be a Tennessee Vol, I wish it were a bit easier. Nothing seems to go our way ever.

If Dooley could just pull out one damn win against someone we are supposed to lose to, I think it would be the corner turn we've been needing.

If you think nothing good has happened for us this season, then you need to take a step back. We have a chance to start off 3-1 compared to last season when we got our third win in our ninth game. We beat two quality opponents by 20+ points. One loss doesn't mean the season is over. It was foolish to think that we were assured a win on the road against a ranked opponent that has won two national championships in the last five seasons.

And yes, the loss of Justin Hunter does hurt, but it doesn't mean we're done for. We have plenty of back-up recievers who will get a chance to show why they're here. Injuries happen and overcoming them is just another part of the game. Besides, look at the Kansas City Chiefs. They've lost two of their star players to ACL tears, are 0-2, and have been outscored 10-89 in the first two weeks. If they aren't giving up then neither should we.

"Nothing seems to go our way ever."

We've won 15 games since the start of '09. That's at least 15 things that have gone our way.

Your post echoes my sentiment verbatim. I really went to Gainesville hopeful...not necessarily for a win, but that this season could really turn out to be a significant step. There was a ton of excitement before the game, both with the fanbases and the media. When Justin went down, it was like the nice gust of wind that has been blowing our way just disappeared.

I'm not trying to be negative Nancy here, but it will be a tough climb this year without him. He's a special talent, and I think he had All-American possibilities. Also, there just seemed to be a chemistry with the three (Bray-Hunter-Rogers) that I haven't felt in awhile. Like in a family, when one falls, the whole unit hurts.

Now, it's time to step up. I hate to use the cliche of Dooley's "scars," but it's very appropriate, here. Will we heal and bond and have some young guys step up? Can the other receivers rise to the occasion? It will take a ton of work, but what happens now very well could define this team and, possibly, our coaching ability.

The result yesterday is exactly what most of us would have predicted if we knew JH was going to be lost. Thankfully, we have 3 weeks to prepare for Georgia, and that should give us time to get reps to Arnett and company, while preparing a game plan accordingly. You just can't plan for something so tragic to happen when your cupboard is bare.

The sky isn't falling, unexpected events happen, and we need to all take a breath and focus on the positives, even if they are clouded by the loss. This team wants to fight, and I think we will rebound.

Go Vols.

I was wondering the same thing today when I got the Justin Hunter texts, wouldn't surprise me if Bray got hurt before the year was over
