Why can UT not hire a football coach efficiently?

You also implied worrying equaled not living and not being able to get up in the morning. You and I obviously have different definitions of worry. I worry about my little kid as most parents do, it doesn't affect the way I live my life in that extreme. I'm glad you don't worry about much. It's a good thing since worrying would stop you from getting out of bed, based on you're own statement. I've never experienced that. If worry effects you as badly as you imply in your comment, you wouldn't survive children.

I didn't imply worrying equaled not living, nor said anything about not being able to get up in the morning. I would encourage you to back and read my post again or save your ignorance and STFU.

Here is your comment and I have bolded where you implied those things.

"I probably won't start worrying. Life won't end on the revelation of our new OC. Our last truly solid OC was Cutcliff. We could have brought him back immediately as HC. But, we didn't. And he has proven at Duke now much he could have done and carried on with UT. and I'm still getting up every morning."

Go ahead and put me on ignore if I'm upsetting you that bad. I simply explained my comment.

I am starting to think that all of these interviews are just to cover for Friend. It's almost like he is being forced to give them in order to check off a few boxes.

What you have in bold and based on what you think that says completely derails any form of reading comprehension you may have.

You implied that those were the effects of worrying. That hasn't been my experience. If those aren't effects of worrying, why did you mention them?

In reply to the OP, I stated I would prob not start worrying. I stated life won't end when our new OC is revealed. I stated I still get up every morning. All signs of not worrying and hanging my life on this hire. Geez your dumb.

That also implies that life ending and not getting up in the morning are effects of worrying. I simply stated that if worrying effects you in that way, children would be tough for you as all parents worry. Saying I'm worried about the hire does not imply I'm hanging my life on it either btw. As I said we seem to have different definitions of worry.

Where in any part of my post did I imply I was worrying about this vacancy. You really are stupid. You must be one of the guys that makes up coaching rumors off of no info. And I do have kids. Any parent worth their salt does worry about their kids. If I didn't care, I wouldn't need to be a parent. One has completed the last two semesters of his masters while working full time because they wanted him, and they wanted him to start back in July. So he has juggled a full time job travelling, and keeping up his Masters courses on line to graduate with a 3.5 from UGA in Ag. The other is a very bright minded two sport athlete in high school. I've no complaints of my parenting.

Every other team in the country seems to be able to handle this process quickly and efficiently, but every coaching hire here turns into a drawn out circus. I know reports are out that Pruitt has his guy, but all of this reeks of interference from somewhere....Fulmer, Boyd, Haslam, BOT, somebody. Pruitt likely knew of Helton's departure for months and it sounded like he had a short list very quickly. I know that everybody is coming out and saying this is Pruitt's decision, but I'm not buying it. Someone has to be interfering and I'm raising the question of who? My personal opinion is Fulmer but that is just tea leaf reading.
I'm praying for you...………………..

The reason is simple. way way way too many people feel they need to be involved in the process..This decision should be CJPs and his alone, other than if additional budget funds are needed.

It pretty much is his decision and his alone.

From what I can tell money wasn't the issue with Freeze in particular. We likely passed for the same reason others did, his past.
Lindsey took the Kansas OC job for less money than UT will pay. Again I'm going to just say money isn't the primary issue here.

Jim Bob has said in the past that he has no interest in coaching in college. Chaney coming back from Georgia which is a prime job to Tennessee which is at best a dicey situation is laughable as well.

You didn't say you were worried about the OC search and I never said you did. You implied that those things were an effect of worrying (in this case about the OC), as evidence by your citing not experiencing them as proof that you aren't worried. Those are some pretty extreme reactions to being worried about something. I'm glad you aren't experiencing that.

Also, the OP you replied to was meant to be humorous. We've spent all morning going back and forth over it. I wasn't trying to insult your parenting skills. Perhaps I should have said, of course you aren't doing those things, no one is.

It was just one thing I mentioned as a possibility.

It's still possible that the hire is essentially done but the announcement won't come until the person is done at his (maybe her) current job. I don't know why UT would have to keep things under wraps when so many schools don't in similar situations though. Seems almost Bensel-Meyersish, some weird restriction placed on UT as punishment for 20-year-old academic fraud.

The hire is essentially done. We're just waiting for the new OC to be born and come of age.

Vol fans: You've only got roughly 2.5 billion heart beats in a lifetime. Why the hell would you spend weeks letting our OC search work you over?

My wife has cancer, I know what is important in life but that doesn’t mean I am not capable of recognizing suckiness when I see it without me pacing the floor at night or kicking over someone in a wheelchair
My prayers go out for your wife. May GOD heal her. I don't see how the post you quoted applies to your response. Even in your case, the added stress of worrying about something that you can't control along with the other stress you are dealing with does no one any good. There are some on this site that appear to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown over this team. It is truly not worth the anxiety that several on this board appear to be experiencing.

Everyone including OSU passed on Schiano. Almost everyone passed on Freeze. Even had Freeze been here to rehab himself, he would have been gone for any head job he could get. Not a good choice. It doesn't matter if it takes a few weeks. No recruits are decommitting. Nothing changes when one gets here until spring. Pruitt had to do certain things to give this team any hope of winning. The roster he inherited is just garbage. It takes time to build it back and it takes time to hire the right person. I know for a fact that no one in the administration above Pruitt is involved in this decision. One board member expressed concern over Freeze and rightly so. But he is not the right guy anyway. The OC has been hired just not publicly. He is an NFL OC that is well thought of. He played QB at Alabama and is good friends with many on this staff. When his team is out of the playoffs officially he will be named. Patience people. Everything is just fine. In 2-3 years you will have a good football team again. Until then, let the man that inherited this mess fix it. Next year will be much better as they will have more players and more development time and the bad apples will be weeded out to start changing the culture. Some of you do not deserve a successful team by the way you act....see things etc.

Actually, I never even implied that. You just can't read.

What he said but I'm also of the opinion members of the academic community would like nothing better than to see the diminished influence of UT athletics. JMHO.
Continued you should say,, starting with Jimmy Cheeks, Academia has put UT sports in the bottom drawer since 2007

Then your statement makes no sense. According to you, you're citing not doing those things as evidence you aren't worried, despite those same things not being a consequence of worrying in the first place.
