Why can UT not hire a football coach efficiently?

Nope, that’s deflection, anyway have a good one.
No its not. You follow the conversation back and if you can't figure it out then I assume you do want to pick a fight.

Do we? Please link me to the proof.

Maybe they weren't Pruitt's top 3. Maybe Pruitt didn't think they'd mesh well. Just furthers my point... we don't know.

Why is his judgement in question? Who does this look bad to, aside from half of volnation? Please don't say recruits... we just got a commit from Harrison Bailey.

He wasn't here the last decade.

Look, Pruitt may screw the pooch here, but we don't know and I'm just trying to get everyone to chill out until then.
I'm curious, at what point will you start worrying? It sure seems like I've seen this movie before and I don't seem to be alone.

So my basic question is this... if you get the same result with something over and over for 10 years is it not natural to assume to continue getting the same result? And if the answer is no would that not just be blind hope? The answer of “ did I say it was a well oiled machine” tells me nothing, maybe I’m to dumb to follow what your saying.

If Pruitt’s looking for a pro style OC with experience, it’s gonna game time because it’s slim pickings out there.

I probably won't start worrying. Life won't end on the revelation of our new OC. Our last truly solid OC was Cutcliff. We could have brought him back immediately as HC. But, we didn't. And he has proven at Duke now much he could have done and carried on with UT. and I'm still getting up every morning.

I just don't see why it's such a big deal. Pruitt wants a balanced offense with a power running game that creates explosive plays off play action. So, the requirements for whoever he hires will be to follow that blueprint.

I could probably be convinced otherwise, but it's just not causing me any anxiety right now. Early signing day next week is a much bigger deal, imo. We need to get signatures from a lot of these guys we have committed.

Lol, I don't think you're too dumb. If you go back to the post I responded to and the post he was responding to, you should see what I'm talking about.

Not acting like its the end if the world does not mean the guy thinks the search is running like a well oiled machine and it doesn't mean he's a sheep.

We've already been told someone shot the deal down with Freeze. Freeze on Finebaum when asked what happened Freeze basically said you would have to ask them. And went on to say I understand if my past scares schools and I have to live with that.

No conspiracy. Not saying it was the right or wrong move but sounds like someone did shoot down atleast Freeze coming here.

These is a reason Freeze is at Liberty and not TN, Auburn, FSU, or BAMA.

I don’t think it is just the UT Admin that blocked it.

Do you really think Randy Boyd or Fulmer is going to come out and say yes, I interfered with a coaching hire? Matthew's has already reported that Fulmer has requirements on the hire.
i heard someone say the other day, just who exactly is coaching the Vols, Pruitt or Fulmer ?

As anyone who's ever done a thing before knows... it's actually possible to do it right rather quickly when you have a plan.

That's the dumbest comment. I've worked plans that took a lot of time and patience that were very successful. That's why I got to retire young. And before throwing out any more insults, think and quit showing such condemnation and arrogance.

Gotcha

And to answer this straight up.

Its confusing. I have no faith in the administration and that leads me to believe they screw it up.

But Its football and not my whole life, so I hold out a little optimism, hope and excitement during these coaching searches, and during season even when I know its gonna suck.

Seriously, if I felt the same about this program that many here seem to, I'd stop watching it. I mean, they say they're just being honest about the reality of it, but as much as they're here and all they do is talk about the chit......I mean, what is enjoyable about being that miserable? All the time?

Fulmer imho is handicapping Pruitt as a HC. If it’s true and we just don’t know it JP is in deep 💩 and could end up leaving or getting run off. Next year will tell the tale of who really is running this team....

VN Meltdowns are always both entertaining and sad. Grudenites gonna Gruden.

There's a lot of scenarios, the best being that his choice for O.C. is still working for somebody and doesn't want to detract from that just yet. Or early signing period in recruiting is more urgent right now than selecting the O.C. Or CJP has no idea who his next O.C. is gonna be just yet and isn't that worried about it. I'm really not that surprised that Pruitt's coaching searches don't have as many leaks as the previous coaches did. Hmmm.

Relax and enjoy the basketball team and early recruiting. It's above your pay grade to be obsessed with personnel decisions at the university level.

You don't know that it's not going smoothly... that's a fact.
That was my thought instantly...The only fretting and wringing of hands I've seen has been here were surely we can all agree the sports IQ has a tendency to be way below average. But of course I have no hard stats to back that up BUT I was just wandering why our fans cant seem to let a hire play out? Probably not a valid answer to either question....

Helton’s departure was likely not known by more than a week or two. Pruitt then has to do his job and Heltons. Like most coaches Pruitt probably has a list of candidates but wants to make sure it’s complete, so he calls people he knows fleshing out the list.
Before making the short list he has to dig into the background a bit, check stats etc. You have to remember it’s busy, all the top guys are preparing for conference championships.
A lot of work goes into the short list. Are they interested, available, etc. Some must have background checks.
Ok yea it has taken way to long.
