There's no need for a lecture to begin with if no one finds out about the ticket or incident; you're grasping for straws trying to compare a "big" story in Knoxville media to a random ticket.
And, yes, I do equate the CFO and Bray. Both are individuals of note and have a higher accountability for their actions.
but it is just a random ticket! Just because you're buying into the GVX hype doesn't make it any bigger than him going 10 over on I40
sorry but it's really sad there are people who honestly believe that. Thankfully there aren't many but you do exist
Are you actually going to try and say that people who have a visible media presence and more "importance" to an organization/society shouldn't be held more accountable for their actions? That's just imbecilic on your part; when people are following your every move, you absolutely have more of a responsibility to be mindful of your behavior. You're no longer representing just yourself, but also a brand.
no what I'm saying is that "brand" is in no way tarnished when one person gets a simple ticket. It does not represent UT football negatively at all. Anyone blowing this up really needs to quit letting the local media drive their feelings.
he got an unimportant ticket
it was dismissed
that's all that happened
This immaturity reflects not only on Bray himself, but on Tennessee as a program and institution.
Employee A is a low-level grunt at Coca-Cola. He goes out, gets really drunk at a bar, starts being obnoxious and is kicked out and gets taken home by a taxi after throwing up outside of the bar. No one knows who he is, so no one cares. Non issue.
Employee B repeats the same behavior, but is a visible entity of Coca-Cola by virtue of being their CEO. When he repeats the same behavior, people take pictures and videos of his buffoonery and upload it to Twitter/Youtube/Gawker. Because people know who he is, they care. Issue.
The media doesn't have time to run with stories that don't mean anything. If the story relates to someone of notoriety, it's worth publicizing. Legality of the events in question, Bray's immaturity casts both himself and Tennessee football in a negative light, and is precisely why it's not just some college kid messing around.
Yeah, nothing screams "leadership" and "face of the program" quite like this.
In my opinion, the number one reason is because these journalists have nothing better to write about and get more views from negative publicity rather than positive. I guarantee both of these Bray incidents and the Darick Rogers incidents are all over-exaggerated. This comes with being a good player or organization. Hence the Cowboys and Jets. The Cowboys are a multi-billion dollar franchise and get a lot of negative publicity for the smallest of things. The Jets have the legendary Tim Tebow but the press picks on them for a locker fight which literally happens on every single team in the NFL. The media just needs more to write about, plain and simple.
Tyler is in college for crying out loud. Do they think he is going to be a saint? It is supposed to be the best time of their lives! Leave the kid alone this will all pass. Hes still a great QB.
if the CEO of Coke gets a traffic ticket does it make the front page of any paper? Your hypothetical is worthless since alcohol was not involved with Bray's jetski incident. It was a simple ticket and will be dismissed. That's all it is. It is actually mind-blowing that some are blowing this up bigger than that.
The hypothetical is not worthless; both are legal behavior for the participants that did not result in any sticking ticket. Both reflect poorly on the respective brands because, ultimately, the media is reporting on it.
Keep making blind excuses for UT and its QB, though. God knows there's no reason to read into the driving force behind all of these incidents.
A stupid ticket actually does none of that and, as I said above, thankfully very few believe that to be true. Very few view UT football any differently than they did yesterday (I only say very few because I sure a couple of bammers are using this as ammo) and even fewer view it as a reflection on UT as a school
