Why Blame Hart?

here's how i see that, the 30-40 athletes in all sports that this would likely effect isn't too likely to bring the collective gpa of the other 28,000 down around their heads. Nor would recruiting 30-40 people who were otherwise going to harvard have any effect in raising academic standards.

Now what benefits the university of tennessee more academically? Letting 3-4 people on the football team that can play at every other school in the sec, or the millions of dollars that the ad funnels into academics that also doesn't happen at most other schools?

a m e n !

This is strictly Jimmy Cheeks decision. Bruce was only going to be rehired over Jimmy Cheeks dead body. The same Jimmy Cheek who has said no academic admission exceptions, while all 13 other SEC teams do. The same man who made the admission standards higher than required by NCAA or SEC standards, that all the other schools do. Ask yourself how a Tennessee commit finds out on signing day that he does not qualify for admission to Tenn so the NEXT DAY he accepts a scholarship offer from Oklahoma where he qualifies according to NCAA standards.... Forget Hart... FIRE JIMMY CHEEK!!!!!

Where's the Fire Jimmy Cheek petition for me to sign?

His eventual demise is a comforting thought. Any insight into his life expectancy? Hart's been asleep at the wheel at least since Cuonzo had his big slump this season. Failing to call up Bruce and ask him to hold off on any decisions at least until we see how this play-in/ncaa tourney thing works out was a prime example of nonfeasance.

Hart sucks in general, but no athletic director at Tennessee was going to call Pearl to come back at this point. Think Kelvin Sampson is going back to Indiana?

Funny how all if these people think the President sucks for Tennessee. Newsflash, it isn't Jimmy Cheeks because he is the Chancellor.

Honestly ask yourself this, would you hire someone back that would lie to everyone including yourself and risk other people's livelihoods to save your own a**? I have numerous employees and I am telling you that is a deal breaker.

Hamilton was the problem as you can see the slow recovery of our athletic Department across the board.

Kelvin Sampson ain't 76% in the Win/Loss column.
And Indiana has Tom Crean.
UT only has Cuonzo.

Sorry for the delay, I just saw your post. Not sure if you're familiar with Cheek's Top 25 Initiative. You can find more information at the links listed below. Looks like we are sitting at Top 46 for Public Universities (four spots higher (lower?) than when he made the initiative). Lots of info there. Not compiled based upon SEC schools (sorry).

All of the above is totally irrelevant. But, since you bring it up, Sampson is easily more accomplished (read: better) than Pearl is.

Disagree. Most realistic people knew Pearl was never coming back here.

The minority is just louder.

Agree. Pearl was never coming back. Like anything the minority look like many but are not. No University would ever let this type dictate to them.
