I watched the Kentucky game on Saturday and felt pretty good afterwards. I thought we handled the Wildcats, and while Tennessee’s defense underperformed, it seemed Kentucky’s desperation 4th quarter inflated their stats. We beat them by 13 points, and honestly that is much closer than the score indicated.

I then got on volnation, and was surprised to see so much negativity after the loss. Did these people just watch the same game I saw? One of the top threads called out a player and called him a baby (really!?) If I were a player or coach reading what I saw, I would begin to feel unwanted, underappreciated, and unfairly judged.

For that reason, I hope you will join me in sharing reasons you are grateful for the 2016 Tennessee Volunteers. Let’s rewrite the script and show Team 120 our support.

• It’s the middle of November and we are in the hunt to make it to Atlanta for the first time in almost a decade.
• Success for our football team no longer means hoping to get to a bowl game.
• We ran the Florida Gators out of Neyland with a stunning 21-point come-from-behind victory ending the most painful streak in modern Tennessee football.
• We beat Georgia in Athens on one of the most incredible plays in Tennessee history.
• We beat 2 out of our 3 main rivals.
• We handled a good Virginia Tech team in the largest attended football game in the history of football.
• We have a coach who is invested and wants to be here.
• We have a dynamic quarterback who represents our program as well as anyone in our history.
• Our academics have improved immensely.
• Dobbs has improved his long ball.
• Jennings has developed into an elite talent.
• Sutton has battled back to contribute to his team.
• Kelly gives 1000% and restores our faith in the future running attack.
• Trevor Daniel has developed into a real weapon, and may possibly play on Sundays.
• Barnett is 3 sacks shy of beating The Minister of Defense’s record.

Even though aTm was a loss it was an exciting game as well as Georgia and of course Florida. We had a major lapse against USCjr, but Michigan, Clemson, and OSU all had lapses against lesser opponents. It happens

Lots to be thankful for. Ending the streak against Florida is at the top of MY list.

Speaking of "streaks"...

I know there is little to no chance of beating Bama, should we get the opportunity, but if we did, would that be considered ending that streak?

Just curious.

I live in Florida so it's been nice wearing orange

Same for me in Georgia. These dawg fans hate me saying Butch owns Kirby. I don't care if it is only 1-0 against him, for now he owns him.

It would redeem everything for me.

I would like to add that (1) Not since E Berry was drafted have we had a 1st round selection in the NFL draft. Now, we are set to get Barnett drafted in the 1st round.

Thank you for your post. Unless your Alabama, there's just not going to be a perfect season. Some will scream bloody murder over every blemish looking past the upside. I'm simply enjoying the ride this season knowing that even with all the injuries, we still beat Florida, are sitting at 7-3, and could very possibly go 9-3.

I am thankful for Josh Dobbs and how he represents himself and the University of Tennessee. I think Dobbs is the quintessential college scholar/athlete. It's not just his scholastic abilities. It's the way he carries himself and what he gives back to the community. He is a humble, soft spoken, leader. He leads mostly by example. Never complains and does not show when he's down. He gives more of his time to others than likely virtually any other college athlete and most people in general. The aeronautical engineer program alone is so demanding of time and of course football practice, games, weight lifting, etc. too, yet he still finds (makes) time to give to the Vol community.

A successful true hailmary is something you might see only once in a lifetime by your favorite team. That was one of the few times my vertical leap exceeded 12" in my lifetime.

Just how far Butch has brought us. I have certainly made my share of comments but, there is no question we are far, far better now than before Butch came. I still have faith in Butch and where we can go but, (I think) he's got to grow just like the rest of us. Learn from mistakes, swallow your pride, and focus on the end goal.
(BTW, The end goal is to kick the living crap out of Florida and Bama and win the NC)

Foremost, I am thankful for the 2016 Vols because a year without Tennessee football would be dreary indeed.

Being able to keep the redshirt on Guarantauno. Under Butch Dobbs kept losing his redshirt. JG will give us a great battle with QD to lead at qb for several years.

Of course. Why wouldn't it? They count Bamas win streak over LSU back to that 9-6 LSU win. In title rematch the Bama win is included in win streak.

I work for Virginia Tech. Being able to walk into work every day after the battle at Bristol and knowing I can always remind anyone of that September night is a good feeling.

Its the last year that we will have a running back at QB... Bring on next year when we have a QB that can pass the ball accurately and consistently!

You took a positive thread and used it to get in a not so subtle dig at Dobbs?????????

I'm thankful for..

Bristol - once in a lifetime experience shared with my son

GA - the hail mary was perfect, especially considering the environment I was in at the time.

FL - Monkey off of our back in a complete 2nd half beat down

TX A & M - almost

Dobbs....Burnett....etc...

Aside from ending the streak to Florida... if we do end up 10-4 and the SEC East Champs (this is assuming LSU beats Florida and we beat Missouri and Vanderbilt, lose to Alabama but win the bowl game) and that is considered a disappointment by Vol fans? Then Butch is doing his job and I am glad to have him.
