Because Fulmer was money in overtime games. My family is from Tennessee, my brother is a big UT fan. So I started paying attention to UT games about 7 or more years ago. First game I watched was an Arkansas game that went into 80848028 overtimes and we won. I've been hooked since.

Uh, nice friends. LOL I guess you'd call it tough love?

You know how dumb we are as kids..The ones you fight with become your best friends.

And looking back, I guess I deserved getting punched for being a bammer.

Born in Knoxville. But was living in Georgia and could very well have started on a path toward UGA. But my Grandma saved me, which was quite a job considering where the two programs were at the time. Georgia was a top level program with Vince Dooley and Erk Russell. Tenneessee was a bottom-four SEC program.

My whole family growing up always rooted for the Vols. We would gather at my grandmother's house and my father and uncles and aunts would all watch and cheer for UT. I have never known anything but loving orange and hating bama and florida. Since my father was always a football coach (middle and high school), we bonded over the Tennessee games. I still go watch games with dad, and there is no time I feel closer to him than when UT takes the field. In short, the Vols play an important role in my life and my relationship with my father....

Go Vols!

Raised to be a Vol. First time I really felt it for real was the Miracle in South Bend. Never turned back. Went to school there for a bit. Probably going back soon. My blood runneth orange.

Tennessee Volunteers upset the #2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats.

The final play deserves special mention. UK appeared to intentionally foul Allan Houston with about 5-6 seconds remaining, as UT needed 3 points to tie the game. Houston hit his first free throw, but deliberately missed his second to allow for a UT recovery and tap-in to tie it. Houston put up a brick and after a couple of taps by both sides, Corey Allen ended up getting the ball and making a shot, during which he was fouled by Jamal Mashburn. He hit his free throw with 1.5 seconds remaining to give UT a 1 point lead. The Cats tried a length of the court pass which was picked off.

UK lost. and I was a Vol fan forever.

I was born in Connecticut and absolutely hate UConn. Since UConn is a garbage athletic school with no legitimate football rivalries, I was forced to take a closer look at women's basketball since it's the only thing at which UConn succeeds (but, then again, being the world's only women's basketball school and not even being the best at it is rather sad). Accordingly, I ended up developing a love for all things Tennessee.

Born in and grew up in Knoxville. My dad was an alum. Went to school there; met my wife there; eventually went back to school there. I really don't feel like I ever had any choice at all in the matter.

My parents are Yankees but moved to East Tennessee where I was born. Growing up as a kid there was nothing better than listening to John Ward on a Saturday afternoon, counting down the yards "to the 20, to the 10, to the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Give him 6!" or "the reciever jumped, spinning, pirouetting, making an amazing catch as he came across the middle and its 1st down Tennessee!" Then seeing Neyland stadium for the first time sealed the deal for me.

Now that I've moved to Virginia it's still awesome how many Vol fans there are. Its like a huge family. I can't wait till my 7 week old son is big enough to enjoy his first trip to Neyland.

It all started for me as a youngster waking up on Saturday morning with that hint of fall in the air. The first chills that came over me as the kick off call in show came on hearing the sound of John Ward's voice. The nervous anticipation leading up to the moment Ward would exclaim, "IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE".
In those days there wasn't much national television coverage for the Big Orange but no one really seemed to care because we had John there to paint the picture for us.

God I miss John Ward...
